synchronization
Why is it that perfect synchronization of movement is SO beautiful and moving when done by two people--think the best pas de deux or skating duo with perfectly matched movements, in intense partnership and communication--but SO creepy when done by 60 bodies, a la the Rockettes?
I'm watching the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and it actually makes me feel a little sick. The exact angle of their heads and arch of their backs is spectacularly aligned, and all I can think about is how miserable their rehearsals must be. "NO! Kelsey! I said tilt your head to *THERE*, not *THERE*!!! Start the routine again!" [insert tears of exhausted Rockettes and possible group beat down of the offending party in the locker room]
It gives me the willies.
