He's more than a little surprised. XD live_ringer January 21 2010, 06:26:03 UTC
Wow. That's really very considerate, Seren. Thanks.

It's not really equal payment, but do you need an extra pair of hands on your next trip to the Scrapyard? Can't think of a better way to break some of this stuff in.

Pleasantly, I hope :) white_disciple January 21 2010, 06:59:02 UTC
I can hardly use so much of this myself - I am attempting more in experimentation than anything.

But I would very much enjoy testing these items out with you, Gene.

Indeed! live_ringer January 21 2010, 07:12:23 UTC
Experimentation, huh? Of what sort?

Alright, then. It's a deal. Same time and place as before, then?

Well this ... Rubik's Cube that I found as a gift for you, for example. I can't fathom a use for it, but perhaps there is one and I simply do not know it because the thing is made from plastic.

It is agreed then.

...Y'know, 'Rubik's Cube' sounds vaguely familiar. Maybe I'll get what it's for when I see it? Though, I'm not sure if it's the 'plastic-ness' that's serving as a block or just the lack of any sort of instructions.

Great.

Instructions? It is some sort of technological device, then?

[She's staring at this thing now]

It looks more like the key to a mage's elaborate trap, if decoded.

A mage's trap? That... doesn't really fit the impression I was getting. Huh. I guess I'll just have to take a look? And be careful, just in case you're right about the trap bits.

I meant more like the key that fits an elaborate puzzle to stop the trap from triggering, but I suppose it could be a trap of its own. I would much rather discover a trap before I give it to you, but I will be careful anyway.

Huh. You mention a puzzle, and that does sound closer to the mark.

Whatever the case, I don't think they'd sell a trap in a mall? It seems like that'd be a liability.

It could have been planted by someone hoping that it would be discovered. I hope it is not a trap, but I cannot shake the feeling that such small objects could still hold a danger if one is not careful to evaluate it.

Eugh. Well. I guess our investigation will have to go carefully.

Though, wait. You can do that 'detecting evil' thing, right? Would that work on a trap since the intent kind of leans toward evil?

If it were a spell, I suppose that would be true - my power would work.

But I am not so naive as to think that this is a perfect power, or that morally ambiguous people cannot still concoct evil schemes without being themselves evil - just selfish, or careless, etc.

Alright, I guess it's back to approaching things carefully, then. I still get the impression that it shouldn't be necessary, but with this place you can never be sure.
