The morning sun was shining and there was a light breeze, showering the clearing with sakura petals that fell onto her hair like snowflakes. It reminded her of Nagi, the way he could control the winds and probably the stars in the sky if he put his mind to it. It wouldn’t do to be thinking about Nagi today, however, and she twirled in the dew-damp grass, her arms open wide. She said her vows aloud, meaning every single word with all of her heart, and when Mr. Bunny said, “I do,” she was the happiest girl in the world.

His shirt would have elaborate beadwork, Michel decided, all down the front and the cuffs. The cape would be long, edged with snowy white feathers that would swirl around his ankles as he walked down the aisle. His pants … no, make that shorts, dress shorts, would be cuffed just above the knees, showing white lace stockings and white leather lace-up boots. Free would be wearing …
Michel woke to a sharp jab in the ribs.
“We’re going to be late for school,” Yuki said irritably as he gathered up his books, leaving Michel blinking sleepily at the breakfast table.

She looked to her right and saw a young boy with his hand clasped in her own.
Funny, she couldn’t remember his name or why either of them would be buried under a pile of rubble, no matter how hard she tried. She did remember Mr. Bunny though, and after rising shakily to her feet, she searched the ruins. His pink fur was matted and dirty, but she hugged him to her chest tightly as the rain continued to fall and cracks of lightning split the night sky, illuminating everything around her.
If only she had her umbrella, she thought, but it was nowhere to be found.
