i voted. i was ballot #1149 counted at my polling place. no lines and a lingering scent of doughnuts and granny perfume. i am kinda worried about the clean water etc.. amendment to the Minnesota Constitution. i like where the money from a tax increase would go, but I am uneasy about amending the constitution to procure those funds. what next? it had such a positive campaign in support of it which means the odds of it passing aren't null. yet i just can't get down with it.
strange times when ashley attempted to register to vote today. her address isn't the one on her DL, but she also brought a visa statement. the judge refused this as proof of residence. ashley lives at home so she called her dad to come vouch for her. he is in town this week but he also owns a house in california where he is a resident and already voted. he brought a utility bill and his CA DL and handed them to the judge. she freaked out when she saw the DL because it was out of state and yet his name was on her list of registered voters which means he could potentially attempt to vote twice. he owns three houses including the address on ashley's DL. when the cranky judge freaked out another judge mentioned that they are possibly violating election law and that ashley seemed like a legit voter. even after discussing the matter with two other judges the cranky judge would not give in. she told ashley to either go to the dmv and get a new license or find a neighbor to vouch for her. ashley left the polling place and drove a few miles to her old precinct where she voted last year. the solution wasn't complicated, but it wasn't the right solution.
