Whistle! Manga

I was told the manga followed pretty closely to the anime, and I didn't really sit down and read the first two volumes until yesterday.

Most notable difference is Kojima's absense so far. Does she ever come in, or is she anime-only?

Kojima's introduced in Stage 30, Fuwa in Stage 28 which is Volume 04 for both chapters.

Thanks! I'm wondering how different she'll be, considering she's tied to tightly to Shou in the anime.

Hmm, after rereading most of the manga, I have to say the anime doesn't really follow close enough. The anime builds emphasis on characters that you won't see until much later, one of which is Kojima. Also, there are events that I found totally enjoyable in the manga but wasn't present at all in the anime.

I'd say one example of following closely to the original is the PoT anime series (up to a certain point) and probably one of the interesting effects is that they use some of the little scenes in the manga as filler episodes. Whistle anime could have used a bit more filler eps, I think. ^_^

Just to go off on a random tangent...

Santa comes to mind (and I wish he hadn't).

That's interesting. From what I've seen, the plots seem pretty close and the characters aren't that changed...

I heard there was something about a shoe? I have no clue WHAT, but someone told me Shige and Mizuno had something with a shoe going on?

I think the anime was very low-budget. Though I have to admit I find Shou's seiyuu hypnotic.

i enjoyed the anime ending better than the manga version... anyway, true... the anime of Whistle! does not really followed closely to the manga version of it. There's not really a change in plot nor characters, the most obvious difference is at the end of the korean friendly match. In manga, Shige joined the Kansai team and did not help out Tokyo team... (that's why i prefer anime version) ... but the ending of the manga is rather disappointing to me... hence another reason which i prefer anime version.
