So can anyone say worst closing shift ever?
Let me explain: Things were going well, it was 11:30 and we were almost done: I was cleaning the dishes in the back, Simon was mopping (as in with a mop, not sulking in the corner - my spelling is the lose) and Garrick had just finished cleaning the espresso machine and left (because technically he gets of at 11 and only sticks around 'cause he's nice). Anways, I hear this noise (remember, I'm in the back) and it sounds like a roar-ish type sound so assume that Simon is vacuuming and the vacuum spontaneously combusted (because it sucks and tend to do that). Anyways, he starts calling me and so I stick my head out of the door. There is Simon; soaking wet, water dripping from his hair and glasses. Yeah. The toliet exploded. To be more precise, the little pipe that runs from the clean water tank to the floor got jarred lose when the mop tapped it and it, well, exploded. This wasn't just a little leak either, this was a full on comic style water shooting to the ceiling leak. So we tried to jam the pipe back into the ground; that doesn't work, there is too much pressure from the water and to top it off the connection is somehow broken.
So while Simon practically sits on top of it to try to stop the flow, I run to the back, grab as many dish clothes as I can see, and we try to stop the water with them. Nope. So we call Mark (our boss) who tells us to turn off the water. Whoops. So we search high and low for the water valve, turning off every sink in the store in the process. Nothing. We even pushed up the ceiling tiles to turn off switches there. We of course took turns doing this, one of us always trying to stop the water/keep it under control. Fat lot of good that did. Plus it was FREEZING! The water leaked all the way down the hall and down the ramp out of the door; which was left unlocked for some odd reason, causing people to come in off the street to tell us that we were flooding. Oh My God, WE ARE? THANK YOU for telling us! We didn't NOTICE! You just SAVED BLENZ!!! At least they didn't try to order drinks. Otherwise *flails arms*.
Anyways, Mark shows up and we end up just shuting the bathroom door and finishing cleaning the place while Mark calls various people to turn off the water/find a plumber. Long story short, we eventually got the water turned off for the entire building (including the college and the McDonalds) but it didn't stop the flow, only weakend it to a steady stream. When Simon and I left Mark was still trying to find a plumber. We didn't get out until 1:30am.
And now my shoes and socks and pants are soaking wet and I am not as cranky as I would think I would be, but rather amused. We basically just laughed the whole time, there wasn't much else we could do kneeling in cold water around a toilet trying to stop the entire store from flooding. Plus Mark payed for us to take a taxi home, which was nice. Especailly beacause the buses weren't runing.
So I realise that my grammer and stuff has been switching around a lot in the past few paragraphs, but give me a break; I've just spent two hours up to my knees in toilet water. Clean toilet water, but toilet water none-the-less.
I need sleep.
And a hot shower.
