Tonight is a big night for me!

Tomorrow, the movers come and take all my stuff. That means tonight is the last night I’ll go to sleep with life-as-I’ve-known-it-for-the-last-11-months. Tonight, I have to actually pack my stuff. I have to decide what I’m taking with me to Miami, and what I can live without until I get to Cali. My guitars, my home theater, most of my clothes… all going away. I can only keep whatever I am willing and able to carry with me (and what they’ll allow me to bring on the flight), and the rest has to go.

I bought a laptop yesterday. I had been promising myself one because frankly as inexpensive as they are nowadays there’s no excuse to go 10 hours on a flight without one, no reason to not have access to my information and communications, and… and just no reason to go without! I’ve got my plane ticket, my camera, my iPod… I’m so ready to get to Miami. This week I’ve been saying things like “See you next week” to my friends and family. Unless you’ve been isolated for months or years at a time, you cannot appreciate how good it feels to say those words.

And my dog! My loyal friend! She’s gonna be so happy to see me, and then she’s going to be pissed that I’ve been gone for so long. She might BITE me. But that’s okay… there’s no one I’d rather be bitten by.

I can’t believe it’s done. It’s really done. Tomorrow they come get my stuff, then I’ll go to admin and get the last of my administrative items to take with me. Friday I’ll go watch a few of my fellow marines get promoted and then we’ll have a bbq during lunchtime. Then Saturday, I fly away. Back to the world I know.

I hit two of my most important gym goals, too! Both were personal records for me. 8 reps of 115 on the Olympic bar straight curl, and 8 reps of 225 on the bench. Somehow, I feel weak and tired all the time. But at least I know the strength is there when I summon it. I hope this chronic congestion goes away when I get back to the states. It’s making it almost impossible for me to run anymore.

Well, enough of my yakkin’. I guess I might as well start pakkin’. After tonight, papa is a rollin’ stone, yet again.
