My friend and I saw Harry Potter-The Deathly Hallows Part 2. We waited in this huge, HUGE que but we managed to get decent seats. My thoughts are:
CONS
-I think the movie should have been longer than two hours and ten minutes. I really did feel like they could have added more material from the books such as the back-story behind the Ravenclaw clan and Dumbledore’s family life, because I really did feel the absence of these scenes in the film.
-I liked the Ron/Hermione kiss. It was much better than the original kiss in the book because I felt the urgency between them. I just wish the writers had built up to it a little bit more so the audience felt like this: “OH MY GOSH ARE THEY GOING TO…?” before they finally did smooch.
-I wish there was just a little bit more fighting in this movie. The fight scenes were incredibly short for my tastes!
-Maybe it was just me, but I thought there was a distinct lack of dramatic music in this film. Was the Harry Potter theme even used once in this film?
PROS
-STILLLL wish Draco had a redemption arc but I forgive J.K Rowling because the scenes with Draco and his family made me melt.
-Dumbledore: After all this time.
Snape: Always.
SNAPE. OH SNAPE. ♥
-The best part of the viewing experience was the audience. They clapped, they laughed, I even heard someone get out some tissues to cry at Fred and George’s scene! Didn’t think I would become glassy eyed when the Weasley family was mourning Fred but dear goodness…
-“Don’t pity the dead Harry, pitty the living”.
I loved Dumbledore’s speech.
-Someone in the audience called Harry a ‘retard’ for giving up the Elder Wand (people who make audible criticisms while everyone else is trying to enjoy the film are so charming). I strongly disagree with this sentiment. Harry knows what great power can do in the wrong the hands so I thought it was very fitting that he snapped the wand and threw it in the river. And then held hands with Ron and Hermione… *heart breaks*
-I agreed with my friend that the epilogue was completely cheesy… but every time I think about it, I feel warm and fuzzy inside. That look of pride on Harry’s face when he watches his son go off to school just makes me melt.
Overall, this movie wasn’t as good as the book. It wasn’t as good as Harry Potter-The Deathly Hallows Part 1. But it was still pretty magical.
It's sad that me and my friend shall never see another HP film because we've been going to these movies together ever since we started secondary school. I truly feel that a part of my childhood has died and that I'm getting old. How depressing is that?
