But at this point, I'm sorry. I can't be objective any longer. Voting for McCain is pure folly. Foolish. He has NO clue what he's talking about. Sound familiar... like the current president we have? How is McCain going to help anyone when he doesn't understand basic economic principles?

The bridge replaces a ferry and connects Ketchikan to its airport. Do I think it was necessary? No. Do I think it's good of Palin that she's pretending she never supported it? No.
Note that I didn't even say she was "against corruption"; she was against the corrupt party machine of her own state's Republican party, namely, she fits best with McCain's "Maverick (tm)" self-image.
As far as Obama's positions go...
Minor nitpicks
* is against nuclear power
* wants to institute new taxes to support Social Security (I don't think that system is going to survive the impact that the baby boomers will have on it and I think propping it up is only going to make it harder to deal with that)
* thinks autism might be related to vaccination (yes, he said a specific audience member was suspicious, but he went on to say that the science was inconclusive)
Major issues
* is in favor of abortion remaining legal and early abortions being unrestricted (and Planned Parenthood said that, in 2006 at least, he voted 100% of the time in support of their interests)
* voted to reauthorize the Assault Weapons Ban (if you do not understand why this is a bad idea:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfKADcfE90U )
* supported the DC handguns ban until it was overturned
* supports making concealed carry of firearms illegal nation-wide
* voted for the reauthorization of the Patriot Act (yes I know, his opponent did too)
* supports embryonic stem cell research (yes I know, his opponent does too)
Biden, additionally,
* has voted for a number of crime-reduction bills which either did things I don't think should have been done, or can be classified as "something must be done! This is something! Therefore we must do this!"
* considers his vote for No Child Left Behind a mistake because it is underfunding the school system (as if more money will fix the problem)
* has claimed that the Patriot Act was essentially the same as legislation he had drafted years ago
* has some extremely dubious positions on file sharing and on encryption
* shares, more or less, Obama's positions on abortion
Now, obviously, Biden isn't the candidate - but I imagine his positions had some effect on his being chosen, especially if Obama is as competent as you claim.
I do like that Obama's in favor of a NHS-style healthcare system. That is not enough to make me vote for him. (especially since he undoubtedly considers "reproductive choice", or whatever the euphemism is, to come under healthcare...) After all, McCain's opposition to legal abortion and his opposition to nonsensical firearms laws might not be enough to make me vote for him.
All other things being equal, I wouldn't prefer someone who's clueless over someone who's intelligent and would be effective. But, I don't think McCain is entirely clueless, or likely to be entirely ineffective, and I don't think Obama is as competent as his supporters make him sound - and all other things aren't equal.
I do think that it's Obama's election to lose - McCain is not as charismatic, does not speak as eloquently, and no matter how hard he insists he's different from the rest, is still part of the Party Currently In Power. We'll see what happens.
