My boss took a turn for the worse - 4th of July weekend he started having a fever of over 100. He got some antibiotics that didn't seem to be working, and they ended up taking him to the hospital this past weekend. Then he started having trouble breathing, and ended up sedated and on a respirator.
It looks like the doctors figured out what was going on, and are treating that, and he's starting to do better. If he makes it to and thru tomorrow they think they can get him upright and out of the hospital, so there is that. Praying really hard they can, and he pulls thru this.
But, last week he and his wife had made the decision that he was going to go back onto disability, unless they manage to drive the chemo back into remission. I think it the right decision, and wish he'd made it sooner, but it was his to make, and I think I understand some of why he waited so long. But now it is real and soon official that my boss, who I've worked with for the past ten years, is not going to be there any longer. This is very weird and terrifying. I've spent more time with him in the past few years than with anyone but Alsafi. I just hope they can get him over this hurdle. If anyone deserves some more time it's him.
