Oh that's right.  Goal was to post more.

Ugh.  Up at 6:45 on a Saturday morning.  Whether I like it or not, school routine has been set again.  Monday was a bitch, but by Tuesday the ball started rolling nicely.  I seem to have adopted a new mindset from returning after Christmas, and that's one of positivity.  As you know, I have a tendency to dwell on the stress, worries and negativity of my going ons at school.  Unfortunately with that, it can sometimes leak through to my behavior with the kids.  Patience waning, frustration level rising.  I think God has made me more aware of this fact.  Students are sharp radars, and react and reflect to whatever the teacher displays.  This week I could not shake that, and it made me into SUCH a better teacher.  I actually enjoyed to the fullest each day with them, and my passion has come back with full force.  I think too it's that I'm understanding exactly where this age group is at in their learning, and how best to facilitate it.  Each age group is so different, and to go from Kinder to 2nd is a big jump in the interactions.  So it was an unbelievably successful week, the back to school depression kept at bay.  I'm optimistic at the longevity of my place at this school... and by that I mean my wanting to stay there.

These next few months won't be without its challenges.  I have a sweet boy in my class who has got some serious focus issues.  I think most of it stems from lack of maturity- he's a young one.  Accomplishing things that involve any sort of writing is a horrendous task.  You basically have to sit with him one on one, dictating word by word what needs to be done.  And with 16 others students, that just can't happen.  As we are already to January, I'm pretty concerned about his being ready for the demands of 3rd grade.  I'll be discussing it with my principal next week, and a meeting with the parents will be necessary as well.  Pray that God gives me wisdom in this.  It's the kind of situation that having five years under my belt wouldn't hurt.

Other than that, not much is terribly new with me.  I've joined a gym.  Nothing like four upcoming weddings to kick start the motivation!  It's right on my way to and from work, so the guilt if I don't go is constant reminder.  :)

Some music contributions I'm addicted to of late:
