I love the snow!!! I went sledding with a bunch of friends last night for the first time and St. Olaf and it was really really fun :) I got out of it with a couple of bruises and a sore ankle, but that's it, so not too bad. Then we went back to Larson and watched Little Miss Sunshine and Shrek 2 and Red vs. Blue. Again, really fun. I feel like we've created this family here and we're all completely comfortable with each other and at home, even if we're not in our own rooms. I love St. Olaf and all the people here.
After saying that, I also feel like this world we live in up here on the hill is really small. Recently, I've felt like the world's caving in, not in a bad way, but it's just closed in. I need to expand it, and quickly. A couple nights ago, I went for a walk with a friend and we walked from one edge of campus to the other and I just realized how geographically small our campus is. I love St. Olaf and all the people, but I really need to make my world bigger. I think that's part of my desire to go to India, my world would really widen then! It's also a huge part of my need to find a church or something that has a great community to be a part of. Going to St. Dominic's tomorrow will help, I hope, as long as it doesn't make it worse. It kind of scares me that I feel this need to get away from my small world, but I don't think that it's a bad thing, it may just mean that I'm growing up, something that I'd like to do quickly right now. I'm hoping to walk over to Carleton one day soon and look around their campus: their chapel and commons and such, just for fun.
But it's always great and important to be here with my family of friends and to go home to Minneapolis and see my family. I'm excited for Spring Break. Oh, we're planning on going to Chicago for the second half of the week, which will be really really good. I'm very excited to go back (I went with band my jr year of high school). And Fr. George is speaking at St. Joan on the 25th of March so I'm very happy to go see him talk. Lots to look forward to.
Now, I need to practice a lot of violin, write a Native American paper, study for Hinduism and Family Studies, and have dinner with Sarah :)
Yay for the weekends :)
