I <3 my home in Buffalo. I <3 that I <3 my home here AND my home in Pasadena. Damn I'm a lucky fucker. I hope I am/can be gracious about this shit but it's just so fucking much to be grateful for. My level of privilege is just fucking ridiculous. I often feel overwhelmed by it.
Anyhoo, being home is cool. I love my fam and it's good to be around them again. Weird as hell that Sean isn't here. He gets home from Camp Geiger at 630pm Christmas Eve. I miss him, the house is odd without him.
I love how cuddly my family is. We totally just hug and cuddle at random, and it's fucking sweet. So much love lives here. I love how interesting my folks is too. My mom and brother explained to me today the difference between pensions and 401k's. Not having either I hadnt' bothered to find out, but it's actually quite fascinating. I had totally assumed that all "pension plans" were basically 401k's, where your employer helps you invest $$$ for your future. The idea of just keeping folks on your payroll for decades after they've stopped working for you just seems like a mad wack way of organizing things to me. Cuz then workers are totally depending on the continued success of the company in order to get their money. Fuck that! Too many businesses just go bust, I don't have that kind of trust.
I definitely hung out with a bunch of guys I was friends with in high school tonight. So weird!! But it went well, I actually had tons of fun. Andrew came with me, bless him. These guys were many of my band geek buddies, and a couple were performing at this place in downtown b-lo that I've actually been to before. It's one of the TWO live music club spots I've been to before. How weird. Anyways it was awesome to see everyone, and folks were very open and chill with me being Daniel. I was nervous as hell goin in but it was just a really good time. Yaaaaaay!! Check out my friend's music at www.danreitz.com I can tell you that I bought his tortuga album a while back and it's fuckin good! I definitely listen to it regularly.
That's the news so far. And it's COLD and SNOWY everywhere, which is awesome. It's good to be back in town. Memory city...
