A meme

Sep 09, 2007 21:00

Because I'm exceptionally tired and not capable of actually thinking much right now, I done a meme that geminilove_ca posted.

I owe comments, I haven't read the flist, I haven't updated the White Knight Awards nominees although nominations are coming in nicely (pimping would be *Much* appreciated by the way!), will catch up tomorrow, I promise.

1. What is in the back seat of your car right now?

I have absolutely no idea since my car is in the garage getting fixed. What I left in the back seat footwell was actually a sleeping bag, a bottle of water and probably a tape I would have thrown over my shoulder when I got bored with it.

2. When was the last time you threw up?

Last Sunday. For ten whole minutes. I was ill.

3. What's your favourite curse word?

Completely depends on what day of the week it is. I swear a lot. If I'm really, really annoyed then it's probably 'fuck'. If it's just a normal day it's something 'softer' like 'bloody' or 'bollocks' or something like that.

4. Name one person who made you smile today?

kitty_kat89, smeckles90, unhobbityhobbit and wenchpixie for all being not psychotic in the least and making me feel like I could actually make graphics.

5. What were you doing at 8 am this morning?

I was awake, contemplating whether to get up and write in wenchpixie's kitchen or whether to try to get some more sleep (which, given that I'd only had about... eight hours sleep in 48 hours, was a difficult decision.)

6. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?

Watching the end of the Scotland v. Portugal rugby game. Sorry jgracio

7. If you could marry any celebrity today who would it be?

I... wouldn't. Not because they're a celebrity. I've met so many people through conventions that have proven to be amazing human beings and who, if I met them in real life, I would be making a play for, but the question implies to me the persona of a celebrity - which is not who the person is.

8. Have you ever been to a strip club?

Not a strip club. Been to Burlesque shows a lot though.

9. What is the last thing you said aloud?

"Thanks for bringing my shopping up, speak to you later." to my sister, on the phone. She'd done an online grocery order over the weekend and got me a couple of things - I didn't expect her to bring it to my house but she did. And she put beer in the fridge for me.

10. What is the best ice cream flavour?

Wow... I haven't had ice cream for ages. Cookies and cream maybe? I tend to like really good vanilla bases with something else in it like fudge, or chocolate, or cooke dough or something.

11. What was the last thing you had to drink?

Some beer. Which my sister had put in the fridge for me. (see #9)

12. What are you wearing right now?

My 'No, I will not fix your computer' t-shirt, navy trackies and slippers.

13. What was the last thing you ate?

A handful of peanuts at wenchpixie's place. I'm contemplating some toast.

14. Have you bought any new clothing items this week?

Nope.

15. When was the last time you ran?

Ran as in exercise? February. Ran as in 'would have missed the train otherwise'? Thursday.

16. What's the last sporting event you watched?

Scotland vs Portugal Rugby World Cup match this afternoon.

17. Last movie you saw at the cinema?

I... don't remember. It was probably over a year ago that I was last in the cinema.

18. Who is the last person you sent a comment/message on MySpace?

I don't really MySpace very much, so last person I sent a message to was Jeff Fiorello.

19. Ever go camping?

I used to be in the Guides. Yes, I've been camping. I also live in a village in the country - I love the outdoors, but it's right *there*, I would go camping more but all I have to do is walk a mile and I'm in the middle of nowhere.

20. Were you ever an honour roll student in school?

We didn't have 'honor roll' or the equivalent in my school. I never won 'colours' or 'half colours', but I was in the top 10% of my last couple of years results wise.

21. Do you like sushi?

Yes. But not from a supermarket.

22. Do you have a tan?

I'm fair and I'm Scottish. We don't tan, we burn.

23. Do you drink your soft drink from a straw?

Not normally, although I tried fresh orange and soda yesterday and used a straw...

24. If your house caught on fire, what would be the first thing you grabbed?

Wow. Psychological question. A year ago I would have said Dram. Now I think clothes and/or shoes so that I can actually go outside and not freeze to death. Everything else is just possessions and although I would miss some things terribly, they're not worth dieing over.

25. What did your last text say?

'Yup'. I was really low on charge and wanted to make sure the message got through. wenchpixie, her friend Dave and I were in a pub on Saturday afternoon and were talking about a song that could be filked for the Serenifly fandom. I got the idea that it would be good for vidding for that fandom and since I know that thedothatgirl is looking for appropriate songs to vid that to, I texted her and then confirmed it was the song she thought it was.

26. Are you someone's best friend?

I don't know. I have people who I really hope would believe they can tell me anything and know that I will listen and be there for them for advice and support - whether they wanted it or not. But 'best friend'. Probably not.

27. Where is your mum right now?

About 12 miles south of where I'm sitting, scattered around the remberence garden in Dreghorn. (She was cremated there.)

28. What color is your watch?

I no longer wear a watch. The last watch I wore was steel.

29. What song don't you want played at your funeral?

Amazing Grace.

30. If there were 5 famous people living or dead you could invite to dinner, who would they be?

Joss Whedon, Billie Holiday, Jean-Paul Sartre, Neil Gaiman, Jensen Ackles (what?!)

31. What do you think of when you think of Australia?

Two things - they'll be the most likely team to be in the final against the All Blacks (but New Zealand will win - sorry!). Second thing is actually... What do I have to offer there? I saw on the news the other day that they're easing up the immigration laws for UK citizens. It's as new a beginning as I could ever hope for. It's an idle contemplation right now, but it's not something I'd really considered up until quite recently.

32. Ever ridden on a roller coaster?

Funny story. When I was really young (5 maybe?) my older cousin Elaine and her friend from school wanted to go on this kiddie roller-coaster but were a little old for it so they took me on with them. I was squashed into this carriage of a kiddie roller-coaster right up agaist the bar. This thing went up and down a couple of times but that was it. But... I was screaming the entire time.

Everyone thought I was scared of it, but that night I showed my mum why I'd been screaming. The bar had left a bruise that stretched from my hip to my ankle on my right leg. I was in so much pain I could hardly walk for a week.

33. What is your birthstone?

Turquoise. My family had a tradition that I ended up breaking; when a girl in the family reaches 21 she gets jewellry with her birthstone in it. But when I was 20 there was a fashion for cheap costume jewellry - with turquoise. I didn't want any of that because it looked bad. So I didn't get any turquoise. I still don't have any. But... lately (mostly because Steve Carlson has some amazing turquoise items) I've been intrigued enough to look around a little. I found the most amazing bangle which reminds me of a Mondrian painting in its form - it's silver, with Onyx and Turquoise in strips along it. It's very narrow but absolutely beautiful. And it's the most expensive thing on the site at 400USD.

34. Do you go in at a fast food place or just hit the drive through?

I don't eat fast food.

35. What is your favorite number?

27 Don't ask me why (especially not in relation to this meme because that's just... not something I want to think about.)

36. Do you have a dog?

I did. Dram. West Highland White Terrier - he died in October last year. He was the best dog ever, even though he used to attack my feet whenever I left the room. He always knew when I was upset and would come and lay his head on my knee until I told him to come up, then he would jump up and curl up on my lap like a big pussy cat. He loved tennis balls beyond all reason, as a terrier he had the whole head-shaking-tearing-things-apart thing down to a fine art and a tennis ball would last approximately thirty seconds around him. He was such a good dog, I'm anthropomorphising like mad, but I do think he knew he was loved and he waited until I came home that day so that he could say goodbye. I held him in my arms as he died. I felt the last beat of his heart under my hands. I was telling him I loved him and he was a good dog.

I miss him like crazy.

37. Your favourite internet site?

The one I spend most time on is probably LJ.

38. When you were a child what did you want to be?

So many things. None of which had any relation to what I'm doing now.

39. How many times did you sit your driving test?

I passed first time. I also don't trust drivers who passed first time.

40. How many speeding tickets have you had since you got your license?

I have no tickets. I definitely have exceeded the speed limit, but I've not gotten any tickets.

41. Have you ever been arrested?

No. I ran too fast. (seriously, student pub crawl, flags missing from golf course, international championship starting on said golf course the next day, flags turning up in various rooms in the student halls of residence...)

42. What was your first job?

When I was at school I worked in the shop in the local caravan/holiday park. That probably counts, right? I sold newspapers and tinned beans.

43. What does your first memory of your sister involve?

Ha! ... Again, I say Ha! I actually don't know. Part of me thinks it's her wheeling me around in a toy wheelbarrow whilst the family dog (a beagle bitch named Midge - I remember her really well) chased us, but I know that from a photograph, not from a memory. If I was still in therapy, my therapist would probably have a lot to say about me not actually having childhood memories of my sister. Everything I can think of is her mocking me.

44. Biggest annoyance in your life right now?

My own lack of ability to balance finances so that I don't have a car for the forseeable future and I can't afford to do the things that really matter to me.

45. Last phone call?

To my sister. Seen the answer to #9

46. Are you allergic to anything?

Yup. Pollen and some random thing that causes the skin on my right hand to crack open and bleed. The North Ayrshire & Arran Health Board thought that the fact that I woke up screaming, that I deliberately caused second degree burns because scalding my hand was the only way to get away from the itching pain, that I have no fingerprints on my right hand - only scars - wasn't enough to warrant an allergy test.

47. Favorite pair of shoes you wear all the time?

Since I've been walking from the tube station to work, I've been wearing my Cat boots more than anything, but my favourites are probably my Wrangler boots. Y'know Ava's vision of Sam being all blown up in Hunted when all that's left is a boot with smoke coming out of it? My Wrangler boots are like that and are henceforth known as my "Sammy Boots".

48. What is one thing you've learned about life recently?

It sucks? It turns around and bites you in the ass any time you think you have a handle on it?

49. Are you jealous of anyone?

Yes. I'm jealous of people who don't *have* to screen their calls. I'm jealous of people who don't get that sinking feeling in their gut whenever anyone in authority speaks to them. I'm jealous of anyone who enjoys their work and who is where they want to be in their lives.

50. Is anyone jealous of you?

I seriously doubt it.

51. Do You Own an iPod?

No. Don't intend to either. If/When I get a decent MP3 player, it'll be a Creative Zen.

52. Do any of your friends have children?

Yes. Why? Is this meant to make me think that I haven't done anything with my life? Tough. I don't want kids. I don't envy my friends who have kids. I'm pleased they're happy, but that's it.

53. Do you have any secret talents?

Don't think so. If I do, they're a secret to me as well. (Y'all know about the freaky languages thing, right? I'm an okay writer, I occasionally make decent graphics, I can 'read' films and TV shows, but none of that's secret.)

54. What do you work as?

"Senior Library Assistant, Electronic Journals and Current Awareness."

Yeah.

55. Do you hate anyone right now?

Hate is too close to love. There are a few people who I am not happy with, and who right now I would be perfectly happy to never see again, but hate takes too much energy.

56. Do you use the word 'hella' daily ?

no. I'm not Eric Cartman.

57. Its a bit daggy but you love?

Neighbours. I hate myself for being marginally hooked on a cheesy soap opera, but when I get home in time I love Neighbours. It's cheesy as hell (which is my understanding of the word 'daggy', is that right?) but it's addictive!

58. How old will you be turning on your next birthday?

Old enough to know better. Too young to have given up.

59. Have you ever been to Disneyland?

Nope. Don't really have any desire to go either.

60. How did you get one of your scars?

Scar that I've had the longest - when my mum got sick, my dad sat me and my sister down and told us that we would have to take over some of the chores from now on because my mum couldn't do everything. One of these was that Sis washed the dishes and I dried them. I was six. I didn't get that knifes are really sharp and that dragging a cloth up the sharp side of the blade is as likely to cut me as it is to take the water off it. So I have a scar on my left hand between my thumb and forefinger from the first time I dried the dishes.

My latest and more interesting scar is my 'keloid scar' that I got when I tripped and fell crossing the road last Christmas Day. I grazed my left knee pretty badly but it was cleaned out (by me) and although it was deep, it didn't need stiches. It's now September, I still have the mark. I grazed my knee and I have a scar. How lame is that?

me no brain.

Okay, so two big Asylum announcements in one night... bad timing. Yay for Jared. Really I am excited about that, but right now... WTF is happening with the hotels? I've booked but not paid - so I have to re-book a room? Will I be able to 'not pay' again? Otherwise I can't pay online since I don't have cards that'll work like that.
