davonne and i watched two disturbing movies tonight.
the documentary - "her flesh and blood," about a woman with 13 children (4 of whom are fully-grown, 2 of which are biological). among these kids are two without legs, one with EB - the genetic disease where your skin falls off, one who was badly burned as a baby and is disfigured, one with MS and emotional problems... but they're a happy family. and she's a patient, loving mother. it was heartbreaking - and kind of inspiring. i fell in love with a couple of the kids.
then we watched "talk to her" - by the same director who did "mal educacion." en espanol. it was disturbing. a movie within a movie. strange performace art pieces. two men in love with women in comas. a man who shrinks down and decides to live in his wife's genitals. only davonne and i choose these movies.
beasley is finally asleep. brent is snoring peacefully upstairs, dreaming his brent dreams of oatmeal cookies and ghosts, and i will read my book while the tv flashes blue on mute.
i made tofu minestrone soup. and it was good. ask von.
not as good as my salmon patties.
