Cornellians Are Weird

When I'm here in my apartment I'll sometimes listen to podcasts, my little attempt (along with Cable television and Yahoo! News) to keep up with the goings of the world outside Ithaca. Well, today I was sitting at my computer, listening to one of these podcasts when I suddenly heard a tapping on the wall behind my study.

I checked to see if it was me stomping my foot unconsciously, which it wasn't, and then turned down the volume on my computer to hear the tapping better. There were two more taps, and then (as if on cue with my podcast) it stopped. So after a few seconds of awkward silence, I turned the volume back on and a second or two later the tapping returned.

So I sat there paralyzed, deliberating as to what I should do. Do I just wait the tapping out? Do I go out and confront who or whatever was doing it? Could it just be a small child playing a prank on me? Could it be a rabbit stomping against my apartment wall, or some sort of rodent assault? Some freakish graduate student? And if it was the latter, what would I say to him or her?

It turns out that, after a minute, the tapping stopped, but my curiousity to know the perpertrator of the tapping continues. I'm sitting here now, at the computer, wondering if I shoudl go out or not. For all I know, this could be a psychological experiment, seeing how I'll react to such an event, or some sort of kidnapping.

Well, I'm going out to investigate. If no one sees me for a week, then the evil mind behind this tapping has taken me away...
