All over Madison in the spring, girl ducks frantically fly around being chased by boy ducks and it doesn't look friendly at all. The girls look scared, like they want to get the hell out of there. I have been telling people that I think the boys are trying to rape the girls, and people did not believe me. But today on RadioLab (the Sperm episode) I learned that duck rape is in fact very common. Apparently male ducks are some of the only birds with penises and female ducks have these crazy vaginas that they can lock up to keep the jerky male duck rapists from impregnating them.

Just when you think evolution can't get any crazier, there it goes again...
