A Wednesday Evening

Man, that plastic in the windows really keeps the drafts out! brilliant! Who knew?!
I am nice and cozy.

Lately I've been driving into work between the hours of 11am and 1pm (yeah, i'm a bum) and there's this cool natural history show on the radio every day (Larry Mueller, for those WPR followers out there).
Fact I learned yesterday: Ring worm fluoresces. Glowing cat fur (under a black light) is a sufficient (but not necessary) way to diagnose this fungus (although it makes me wonder-- i think cat pee fluoresces too! how do you know if your cat is rolling around in her urine or has ring worm?
Today I learned: A fisher (pictured below) can kill and eat a fawn. And will also eat a porcupine!

This guy lives in Wisconsin.

Today from Larry Mueller I also decided what I want for Christmas. A Trail Camera. You hang it from a tree and it senses movement and takes a picture of the creature who triggered it! How cool is that? (I wish I understood how hunters have appropriated these for their purposes. Seems very innocent to me)
