After mass last night we stopped and got ice cream cones. I was all sorts of giddy about getting ice cream. We sat outside on benches to eat them and I discovered that if I sat back all the way on the bench, I could swing my feet like little kids do when their feet don't reach the ground. So I was sitting there, swinging my feet and eating my ice cream cone. If that wasn't heaven, I don't know what is.
Disturbia turned out to be surprisingly good. Some good tension and it was entertaining.
After the movie we headed to the Barnes & Noble that we always frequent. We discovered on Friday that it will be closing on June 30th. Every time we think about that we start wimpering. But as a result of the impending doom, everything in the store is 20% and everything with a white dot on it is 30% off. As I had four gift cards (being a teacher rocks!) I came home with two blank books, The Story of the Irish Race by Seumas MacManus, Wicked by Gregory Maguire, A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore, The Complete Fairy Tales and Stories of Hans Christian Anderson which is one of those pretty leather bound ones with the gold pages, and Cannibal Killers which is all about, what else?, cannibal killers. So I was hauling that lot around (the fairy tales and the Irish race books are rather hefty) with the cannibal killers book on top, the title written in shiny red. Might explain why people seemed to be keeping their distance...
As I can do nothing about the closing of my beloved store, I'm hoping that as the final days get closer, the sales get better. Because that's what I need, more books. I need to invest in more shelves, but they won't fit in my room. Clearly I'm supposed to move out. I'll get a two-bedroom apartment, with one bedroom for me and the other will become my library. Ooo, that'd be sweet.
Ooo, yay! The latest Doctor Who has downloaded. I'm off to get pancakes and watch me some David Tennant.
