School-related rant.

I ripped my kids a new one this afternoon. First time so far this year, I think. One kid informs me that he doesn't want to do Science, so I told the class, "Well, SoAndSo doesn't want to do Science, so I guess that means we're not going outside to draw pictures as I was planning to do." (We're talking about living and non-living things and habitats so I was going to have them draw pictures of everything they see and we'd talk about the habitats and such). When he hears that we're going to go outside and draw, he changes his tune and wants to do Science. So I thought that was that.

Two minutes later, this kid that just annoys me informs me that he doesn't want to go outside. Straw that broke the camel's back. They've been moaning and groaning lately whenever we do Math or ILA and telling me that they don't want to do such and such a thing. I went off on them about their complaining, informing them that I am in charge and they are to do what I say. I told them that they're here to learn and if that's a problem for them, they can discuss it with me and their parents later. I also said If I want your opinion, I will ask for it. I was going to say, If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you, but I knew they wouldn't understand that. And I rambled on about a few other things during my yelling (well, it was probably more REALLY LOUD TALKING than actual yelling).

I would've never informed my teachers that I didn't feel like doing a certain subject in school. Where do they get off complaining? They seem to think that everything is supposed to be very entertaining and when it's not and they have to do normal work, they get "bored" (if one more kid tells me they're bored, I will lose it) and moan about it. I'm sorry, you little spoiled brat, but you seem to think you just walked into the flippin' circus! Look around. Do you see any clowns and elephants and cotton candy? No? Then sit down, shut up, and do your work!

I cannot wait for tomorrow at 3pm when the last busload of kids has left my room. I need LOTS of Me Time this weekend to calm myself.

school, evil students, cranky teacher, excuse me while i rant
