I went to the doctor yesterday and he looked down my throat and said, "I'm very sorry to tell you this, but it is very ugly in there." He mentioned strep, although he didn't do any tests for it. He recommended the first day I could go back to work would be Thursday, which is brilliant as Easter break started at the end of school today. So now I'm popping penicillin three times a day and feeling like a bum for skipping school, but I did have a splendid fever and lovely headache in addition to the very ugly throat yesterday.
Today I feel fine, except my throat feels a bit swollen when I swallow, but it no longer hurts. I'm quite happy about that as we have been planning an overnight trip to DC Thursday - Friday and I had already reserved two beds at a hostel and I would've been miffed if I was still sick for that. But all seems to be back on track. Leaving at sunrise tomorrow and going to the Holocaust Museum first. Then we're just going to wander around and see what we feel like seeing. This is why I actually went to the doctor and am willingly taking medication for my illness. I never do that. I just stick it out and let it run its course. I'm hardcore like that.
The only pain in the butt with this trip is finding a parking garage that has overnight parking. I called a bunch of them this afternoon and I could barely understand the majority of the people I talked to as they had accents (mostly Indian-sounding) and were talking to fast for me. I found a few that have overnight parking, so tomorrow we'll just have to try to find the cheapest one.
I have this paranoia that my car might end up getting towed. Great.
Tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous in DC. Mostly sunny and 78 degrees. Sweet. And thunderstorms for much of the weekend. Nice. I loves me some thunderstorms. Oh spring weather, how I've missed you.
