Happy happy! Joy joy!

This is the same review I'm putting on my website. I don't have the time nor the energy to write two separate ones right now.

Oh. My. Goodness.
I have now seen Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings twice. Briege and I went to a 12:01am show on Wednesday (where we got free stuff! If it's free, it's for me! But the sound did go screwy at the end of the movie, making it a bit comical and reminded me of a Chinese movie dubbed in English...if you understand what I mean by that. Oh and there were only three people dressed up. Well, two only had capes on, but this one person, we swear it was a guy, was all decked out in a long blonde wig with a crown of leaves on his head and he was wearing a long flowing white elvish looking dress. I guess he was Galadriel or someone.), slept for like 5 hours and then saw a noon show on Wednesday. It was a glorious six hours spent in the movie theater (and the noon showing had the SW: Episode II trailer, which made it all the more better).
Moving on...I love this movie. Sure, there are changes, but I think that the changes work. I think I was a little nervous about Liv Tyler as Arwen, but I say she was great. But it irks me that the previews and reveiws say that she and Cate Blanchett are big stars in the movie, when together, they're probably on the screen no more than 15-20 minutes. But I won't dwell.
I started off not liking Boromir at all, seeing how he turns a bit evil, but I find that I like him now and was all sad at the end...which I won't mention in case someone hasn't seen the movie or read the books (Read them! They're awesome!) I totally love Legolas. He kicks ass with that bow and arrow, not to mention when he fights with his knives. Aragorn is really cool. He's all quiet and then suddenly he starts fighting and I was just in awe of all the fight scenes.
I love all the hobbits. You can't help but feel bad for Frodo because Elijah Wood just looks so darn innocent and the movie starts out all happy and then all the evil stuff happens and you're just like "Awwww, why can't they all just get along and be happy?" Merry and Pippin are hysterical together. Sam is just so cute. I think one of the cutest parts is when Frodo wakes up in Rivendell and Sam comes in and is all excited to see that Frodo is awake and okay. And then the reunion of the hobbits in Rivendell is cute when they're all hugging. Gandalf is great, as is Gimli.
The way that they did the different sizes of the characters is flawless, in my opinion. The costumes are gorgeous as are the sets and the weapons. There is so much detail and let me just say I want to live in either Rivendell of Lothlorien. It's gorgeous there. Hobbiton is adorable too. Heck, I want to live in Hobbiton. Why don't I just go move to Middle Earth now? I think I'll go pack and then find myself an Elf and maybe some hobbits...
The way the actors worked with the CGI creatures was excellent. No one was looking over anyone's head (like Obi-Wan with JarJar) and it looked real. The Balrog and cave troll were cool looking and I thought Gollum was cute (I'm the weirdo who reread the part where Bilbo meets Gollum in The Hobbit over and over again. I like Gollum for some odd reason).
Right. There are very few things that I think could have been done better or just not put in at all. The main thing I'm thinking about involves Saruman and Gandalf's showdown. Saruman ends up spinning Gandalf around on the floor like a top almost and it just comes off really funny and kind of stupid looking. I don't think that spinning thing should have been in there at all. And the other thing that really didn't sit right with me was when Frodo offers Galadriel the Ring and she goes all freaky. That was a bit too odd for me.
But other than those things, it is a kick-ass movie that I will be seeing multiple times. The music is awesome, the acting is superb, the whole thing is incredible. There's not much else I can say except GO SEE IT! A LOT! NOW! Why are you still sitting there? GO!
P.S. Check out the LotR action figures. It's pleasantly surprising to see that they actually look like the characters. I got the Legolas one yesterday and he's so cool. I'm going to try to find the Frodo and Strider ones, but from what I've heard, they're nowhere to be found. Darn it!

"Something draws near, I can feel it."

movie gushing, lotr
