Yesterday was both productive and non productive. We were rock and rolling - Hubby playing writer’s assistant (we were checking the map to ride some of the old logging roads) when my friend from Portland just showed up at the front door. I knew she was in town, but she was here for work and when we talked last she said she wasn’t going to have time to come out to North Bend. My productivity for the day stopped cold at that moment. But damn it was good to see her. Two Detroit girls now decidedly Pacific Northwest transplants. We chatted for hours on the patio and played with Yuki and for the first time in I can’t remember how long, Greg and I did much of nothing on the weekend. He said it made him feel like he was getting a real weekend. So maybe stuff like that has to happen more often. But, it was a surprise visit - can’t really “plan” that. Just glad we were home from the historical museum when we were or we would have missed her.
Last night I slept hard, too. Bed around midnight and didn’t wake up until 8:51 a.m. My back is fully upset, but my brain is very happy with me. Makes up for the three nights in a row of insomnia.
Lisa has some friends in the logging industry, too, that she’s going to give my card to, so I can interview them for my research for this screen play. But that project is on hold until they call or we have free time again to scout some locations for writing and filming.
Today is devoted to school. I’m noting a pattern. Each day seems to have a theme. Mondays seem very focused on Creative Word Lab, which seems very appropriate. Tuesdays are split between
Creative Word Lab and
Martius Catalyst. Sometimes schoolwork gets thrown in there. Sometimes. Wednesdays are always
SnoValley Writes with Martius Catalyst thrown in. Thursdays I seem to focus on Fiction Projects and
School, especially reading, by Thursday I really want to read, even though I read each and every night before bed. Fridays are more fiction and Martius Catalyst. Saturdays have traditionally been manuscript work, or getting things submitted. Sunday are always homework/school. Homework will only last until September 8. And then, my dedicated friends, I will have my motherfucking degree! It only took me 25 years. But at least I got it done.
The amazing artist who did my Creative Word Lab logo finalized the business card for me - and it’s PERFECT. Retro yet modern. I love it. It’s very me. Networking event, here I come. Thank you, T - you’re a supastar! So incredibly talented.
Today’s to do’s are very short:
Dinner in Crockpot
Fold Load of Laundry from yesterday (i might get motivated later to do it, but right now it can suck it...I'm exhausted)
Novel Revision Class 11:30 to 12:30
GLBTQ Studies Class 1 to 5 p.m.
Home, Dinner & Gaming Night.
Feels like a day off, but it’s not. There’s lots of work that will be proffered during class to keep my week busy. My senior thesis project, too needs work. I got lots done Saturday morning, but there is a lot more to go.
