So this weekend I ventured up to the good ol' Twin Cities. The weekeend was quite crazy, and I mean that in a purely good way. Well, for the most part.
El Viernes: It began Friday around 5 pm when I left Sioux Falls solo after Rohde confirmed she had (for the second time) bailed on what was her own idea. Luckily I had foreseen this and got my car checked out earlier in the day so I could make the four hour trip with fewer worries. For future reference for anyone, comedy cds rather than music cds make road trips go by much faster. I enjoyed a little Robin Williams and Mitch Hedberg on my trip.
I arrived at Austin's apartment around 9:30 pm and the drinking promptly began. My lovely Stephniqua (and various others) graced us with her prescence and we later would drunkenly wander around Washington Ave, much like the school year. Ahhh, memories.
El dia de Sabado: I woke up on the couch with what would be the worse hangover in quite some time. Fuck you Coors Light. I spent most of the day just laying around and occasionally vomiting, but luckily around 4pm I felt better and suggested to Austin we go outlet shopping. Now not the crappy Medford mall on the way to the cities from SuFu, but Albertville Outlet shopping, which clearly dominates with more than 100 outlet stores, most of which I like. I'm poor though and only left with two shirts and a comfy pair of sandals from Pacsun.
The night started off pretty slow, Austin made some orgasmic chinese food and we just relaxed and played some mario kart with a handful of people. When everyone left Griff, Austin, and I played some poker. The beer was flowing and eventually Austin and I thought it would be a grand idea to finish my bottle of vodka in about 5 minutes.
Sunday: I don't really remember what happened after the vodka the night before, but I woke up one hour later to warped tour already, and with a swollen black and blue thumb. Nonetheless, I got ready quickly and we headed down to the metrodome. Warped tour was awesome, but due to bad planning and horrible conditions (dehydration, extreme pain, hang over, heat, and large crwods) I missed a lot of what I would like to see. I kept thinking I was going to pass out so I had to leave in the middle of some good performances...sad, I'll plan better next year. However I did pick up on some bands I didn't really know and have grown quite fond of (particularly Gym Class Heroes) and I really enjoyed Motion City Soundtrack. Hawthorne Heights and My Chemical Romance weren't too shabby either. Plus ones I don't remember or never bothered to get their name. I also wish I could have seen more people I knew, but clearly it was far too crowded and big to run into too many people you know. We left after Hawthorne Heights since we were all dying and hungry and didn't want to spend $7 on a hotdog.
Today/Yesterday/Whatever: I got up around 7am to drive home. Went and saw a doctor before work who confirmed that my finger was broken and that it was "the most unusual" fracture he has seen. He was also confused as to how I had no idea how it happened. He put a splint/cast thing on it for now but I have to go back in on Thursday because I will likely need surgery. This is due to the fracture being just short of completely breaking my thumb, and the proximity to the joint which would cause some immobility when it heals.
My mother asked if it was all worth it, and I think it definitely was.
