Hey folks! Hey! Do any of you know anything about trying to get an illustration gig from magazines? Any good places in particular? Tips on mailing out postcards? I am thirsty for your knowledge!!

Dave (Roman) has a really good primer for that sort of thing. If he doesn't upload it, I think I have a copy somewhere.

All of my magazine illustratin' gigs have been a result of sending out postcards!

I personally have only ever been contacted by email and telephone. I doubt anyone would try to hire you by sending you something in the mail. But often when sending out a batch of postcards a handful of them will get sent back for whatever reason and so you wouldn't know which names/addresses to cross off your list of contacts for the future.
