2007, we hardly knew ye...

Last night Chris and I brought in the new year with some friends of ours in Park Slope. There was stew, Aztec hot cocoa (Adam and I invented our own recipe), banana chocolate bread (I made it!), and we kicked ass at Taboo! Surrounded by good food and great company...if that's not the way to start off 2008 then I don't wanna hear about it!!


Anyway I did the meme...

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Moved 2 times, went to Amsterdam, painted a poster, celebrated my first anniversary with Chris, joined a gym, dyed my hair black. Also: killed a leprechaun.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any :x

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Your mom.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully!

5. What countries did you visit?
England and Holland.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
More determination and will power.

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Nothing springs to mind, so I guess nothing was etched!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I added a lot of work to my portfolio!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not planning my finances well.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
MONO!

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A new bed!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Not to be corny, but my parents and Chris both have kept me level headed through my many neurotic episodes this year.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My aunt.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Rent and student loans.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Working on Venture again, traveling, learning more about cooking, my best friend getting engaged!

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Ehhh...

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. Thinner or fatter? Heavier, I'm sorry to say. BUT IT'S ALL IN MY TITS (It's not all in my tits)
iii. Richer or poorer? Poorer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Saving money.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spending money!

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent it at my grandma and grandpa's house in New Joisey.

21. Did you fall in love in 2007?
I was already in love!!

22. How many one-night stands?
I beg your pardon!!

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Arrested Development, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, plus Heroes was a biggun. And Grey's Anatomy, even though in terms of dumb ass drama it's like live journal on coke.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I've lost respect for some people but I don't think I hate anyone.

25. What was the best book you read?
Hmm...I really loved the David Sedaris stuff I read.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I've gotten into a few new people (for me)...Tall Tree 6ft Man, Feist, St. Vincent, Damien Dempsey, Róisín Murphy, Iain Archer...

27. What did you want and get?
My job with VB, some cool recipes under my belt.

28. What did you want and not get?
A glistening six pack of abs.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
ONCE!! Juno was also fabulous.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 23 and I saw Ratatouille...another quality film! Chris and I also had a joint bday party that was pretty damn swell.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
I went from moderately dressy preppy hipster to prissy ragamuffin.

32. What kept you sane?
Like I said before, Chris and my parents. And CHOCOLATE MUTHA FUCKIN CAKE.

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Thom Yorke, he's just so much fun to paint (and listen to!)

35. Who did you miss?
I miss living with my sister sometimes.

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Oh shit, I dunno. My new baby cousin is pretty adorable. Plus I made some really nice friends, like Ryan North, Johnny Allison, and Liz Greenfield. And YOU, internet!

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Plan ahead! Don't make decisions in a panic!
