Good? Bad? Er, something.
We had the furnace inspected on Monday. It's been shut down due to a crack in the combustion chamber, which allows for emissions of the dangerous sort to seep into the air of the Witch Hut.
A replacement will be needed, and will cost extra bucks at a time when additional financial outlays are most sincerely unwelcome. As it stands, there is no scheduled source of income for the Witch and her Octoplump after the month of May ends. This is causing anxiety.
Another important point: Over the winter and spring months, the Witch has been experiencing extra-high levels of pain, fatigue, "fog brain", headaches, and general debilitation. Greatly did she fear that this trend represented a permanent downshift in her ability to function. As it stands now, it is quite possible that this nastiness is the result of low-level carbon monoxide poisoning, low enough to dodge the detector, high enough to foul up the health of an already-weakened person. This would mean the possibility of eventual recovery, where the other scenario made it unlikely.
Yet another point: The Witch's ferties had been suffering from squirties for about the same time period mentioned above, with recent improvement after the furnace had been turned off for the season, some weeks ago. This would add weight to the carbon-monoxide angle. The fuzzballs have mostly stopped squirting, and have started emitting a tar-like substance that is virtually impossible to clean up, making the Witch's living room rather unpleasant. The Witch actually hurt herself on sharp fert poop the other day. Hopefully, this too shall, um, pass.
