In a fair world, the world of two weeks ago, the wanting girl and the wanted girl would be the same. In a fair world, when you made eye contact just now he’d have winked at you, and in fifteen minutes you’d both be stepping out of the ladies’ room. He’d smooth his shirt, you’d smooth your hair, and he’d mention you left your toothbrush at his place and you can keep it there.
But now you’re toothbrushless, and he’s already heading for the jellybeans on the desk across the room, grape soda in hand.
