I survived the weekend! Saturday was jam-packed. Up at 6, breakfast with some fellow brewers at 7:30, caravanned down to Max Lagers and the chaos of the Peach State Brew-Off. Stephen and I were stewarding (i.e., gophers for the judges.) What should have been a 9:30 AM - 2 PM event lasted until past 6:00. They actually had to judge a couple of categories today and then determine Best of Show. We think our beer won second place in the Dry Stout category, but we don't know the official results.
After winning some stuff in the raffle (t-shirts and a neat gadget) we mingled around the AAC for the art show. All four of my pieces were hanging. :-) We hung around for an hour until the crowded, noisy space got to us and then had dinner at Manuel's Tavern with
thelizard. By 9:30 we were in Little 5 Points to see Dave Dault's CD release party.
Even with a very hoarse voice from the flu, Dave's music sounded awesome. With him were Thad Thompson and two other musicians and they were great together. Listened to the CD on the drive home and it is the best capture of his voice and playing that I've heard. It is refreshing to finally hear him singing as he does live, rather than shouting into microphones that don't pick up his voice over loud instruments. Really nice arrangements on the songs. He's been working on this for years and it feels great to have watched him fine-tune his music into this recording.
Got home at midnight and crashed hard. Today we slept in, ran errands, racked one beer to secondary and dry-hopped another. Oh, and ate and showered. ;-)
Now it's time for bed!
