Post-Christmas Post

Back again from almost a week in the Carolinas with family. I'm glad to have a weekend just a day away so we can ease back into our regular schedule.

We returned today to an empty can of CO2 and no pressure on the keg. This is the second time it has run dry while we've been away. We have a leak somewhere but haven't been able to find it yet. We meant to have turned the gas off before going out of town but forgot. Hopefully our keg-hopped ale still has some aroma hops left and hasn't oxidized too badly. :(

At least our pipes didn't freeze while we were away; we had also left an outside water line turned on. 0_o

In good beer news, we did pick up two one liter bottles of the rare and coveted Cold Mountain Winter Ale, by Highland Brewing. We hope to share one with friends and cellar the other one. I haven't yet tried it but keep hearing about it. I hope it is good!

The best gifts we received were money to pay off bills and a tall queen-sized Aero bed for our guest room. Now we can get rid of our futon mattress and actually use the room, plus have comfortable sleeping quarters for guests. Yay for packable, storable beds!

Speaking of beds, I am looking forward to sleeping in ours tonight. Neither of us slept well this past week. Beds were either too small, too bouncy, or waaay too soft to get a good night's sleep. Ours is just right, and we both missed it. ;)
