My heart began to crack open
and the crucible of my life --
the crash, my work, my therapy,
my body, endless reflection,
community and lovers --
they have conspired
to pull it wide apart.
And all the seeds of love
that for so long have germinated
in hiding, in waiting,
growing deep deep roots,
came flooding out
in a shower of flowers and tears.
Now my heart is wide open,
sending love and joy,
receiving comfort and laughter.
I let the tears come to clean
the wounds that have gathered.
I stand arms outstreched,
chest open and head to the sky.
And I am screaming to the world,
"I love you!"
