I think this whole world needs to take a chill pill. We are all frustrated, saddened, and pissed off by the smallest things. This world would be such a better place if we didn’t let things bother us so easily, if we didn’t get so hurt or offended by the miniscule things. I know I’m probably the Queen of Sensitivity, but I’m trying to change that. I’m trying to be happier, trying to think better about myself. And the second I feel like I’m close to achieving that, when everything feels right in the world, and when I no longer feel so ugly when I look in the mirror, my whole world turns upside down. Everybody is sad, everybody is mad at everybody. And here I am, trying so hard to stay happy, stay calm in the midst of chaos. So I just wanted to pass along some advice to everyone who isn’t feel too hot this morning:
For everyone who doesn’t feel very good about themselves, who feel like everything is going wrong, who feel like nothing is going right, think about the people in the world who have it so much worse than you. For the people who look in the mirror and feel ugly, think of the people who have been in fires and have had their faces burned off. For all of the people who don’t think they have enough friends, enough people to turn to, think of the people who are all alone in this world. When my mom was our age, she had a birthday party, and nobody showed up, nobody came. And I look up to my mom for keeping her head high during those days, when most of us would go crying in a corner, not wanting to face the world. For all of the people who have had a death of a loved one, think of this old lady who visits the senior center. I was working there, talking to Joann (the lady who helps pack meals). She was telling me about this lady who moved to over 50 places in her lifetime, one of which was Germany. She could see the camps from her backyard. Many of her friends were taken away, and she didn’t know that they were sent to be killed. For all of those people who like someone who doesn’t like them back, think of the people who never once had a person who liked and cared for them, who live their lives in seclusion, never getting married, never having children, never falling in love. While we are sitting around feeling bad about ourselves, which I probably spend half my life doing, we need to think about how fortunate we are for the little things. We have people who love us, parents who care about us, a house over our heads.
Dr. Monica prescribes to everyone who is feeling sad:
- Write down all the good things about you.
- Write down all the things you are blessed with.
- Head bang and dance while listening to happy music in your room (I did that this morning, and trust me, it did wonders).
- Do something you know you’re good at.
- Watch your favorite movie while pigging out on your favorite food.
- Call up a friend on the phone who you know can always make you smile, make you forget about your problems.
- Drive around in the car with your windows down and your music blaring.
- Go to the mall and try on clothes that you would never buy, like that bright yellow prom dress at Winsor, or the sexy shirt that makes you look like a movie star but that’s way too expensive to buy.
- Look up hott guys/girls online :P (like Chad Michael Murray....ooooooh baby)
- Drink some caffeine, LOL.
"Make a Move (Wake Up)"-Lostprophets
So are we lost or do we know
Which direction we should go
Sit around and wait for someone to
take our hands and lead the way
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Are we meant to take the pain
Should we sit around and wait
Are we being saved
Or was I another lie you made to make us hate
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a... move!
It's not enough
To let it run
Where's the truth
It's all wrong
So sick of waiting for our answers...
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
It's time to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Make a move (move, move, move, move).
