My Car Teases Me So...
I think my car is the devil at times.
Yesterday, halfway to work my "check engine" light comes on. Ok, if I were still driving the 1988 Cavlier, I would halfway expect this. However, my car is not two years old yet. Needless to say, I was flipping freaked out. I pull into a gas station and whip out that big ass "owners manual" and read. All it tells me is to check the gas cap and if that isn't the problem, to go to the dealer. Ok, my dealership is in a BFE Illinois Farmtown. They aren't open on weekends. Arrrrr. My eye started to twitch again.
So, I get to thinking I was a little late on the oil change, and its a new car and may be touchy about things like that. So, I get the oil changed. Damn light is still on. I really do not want to drive a vehicle with possible engine problems some 30 miles down country roads to my dealer. Someone at work mentions AutoZone and I go there during my lunchbreak tonight. Autozone Dude plugs a computer into my car and it tells him I had a "very small emissions leak" i.e.- vapors in gas tank or around gas cap after I filled up the tank the other night. He told me my car may no longer be leaking the emissions, but the message was still in my car's computer. Then, he told my car to cancel the message via his computer thingee.
Outcome = no more check engine light! yay!
Ive never had a car which is this new or had a computer in it. All of this is so new and I'm not sure if I like having a computer in my car if it is going to go wonky over little things like this. I'm used to when the engine light comes on you had better be sure to get off the road asap! *L*
Anyway, green light is still on for my trip Friday. Wheee! ^_^
