Let's be clear: the script definitely had some questionable dialogue choices. But honestly, in terms of plot, I really don't think this movie is any weaker than Thor or The Avengers. In fact, the more familiar you are with Amanda Waller's character, the more the plot makes sense.

I agree, the movie definitely had some dialogue issues, HOWEVER, that aside, I felt everything was pretty good. I wasn't all that fond of Enchantress as a villain, in fact I don't thonk she was that affective as a villain, but in a way, I don't see how it could have been anyone else.
My thoughts exactly! I also think the plot works considering who the main characters are-- they're supervillains, so they're not going to be fighting the alien menace or rising up against the oppressive dictator. Waller isn't that type of hero, either-- she's not forming the team because she believes in them, but because she finds them useful. Though the Enchantress plot might seem too convenient or almost like an excuse, Waller forcing some villains to clean up her mistakes works better for all the characters than the formula of a standard team-up movie.
You really didn't see the Joker leaving after Harley jumped into the acid? That was the first thing I noticed, because he rolls his head and is almost annoyed at the fact that he felt the need to save her.
The perils of going to see movies with friends who aren't comics fans! One of friends whispered, "What's up with the acid?" and I was doing my best to whisper-explain, and then my attention was swept away by the brilliant song. After the movie, one of my friends wondered, "Why did the Joker look really confused, and then dive in to save Harley?" And then I got to explain the full backstory on those two . . .
Thus the beginning of the lovely abusive relationship.
I'm torn on whether this Joker and Harley are more or less dysfunctional than the comics or BTAS Joker and Harley. On the one hand, SS Joker does seem to care about her, much more than he ever did in previous versions, but on the other hand, he tortured her into becoming Harley Quinn, when in BTAS and the old 52, she made that choice herself.
As far as DC movies goes, this one is definitely the best, my hopes for Justice League are a lot higher than they were originally, so I'll take it.
I found it really fun and easy to get into. Man of Steel and BvS felt really dreary, but Suicide Squad had a lot of energy to it. Agreed that it's my favorite DCEU film so far-- but I also have high hopes for Wonder Woman's movie!

In a way, the villain was Waller, if you think about it. All of this happened BECAUSE she thought she could control the villains. But that proved to be 100% wrong, right? Sure. I get that this was the aftermath of BvS and everyone is still sad about Superman "dying" and not sure of how to act, BUT Amanda Waller created Enchantress.
So yes, in a way, Enchantress was the easy way out, extremely convenient, and an excuse. I get it :)
The soundtrack AND score are both amazing. I am in love with Gangsta and it was brilliantly used for the acid scene!
SS shows Joker/Harley in love. We didn't get a backstory to them, just that quickie intro from Amanda Waller. Since they want to do a Harley Queen movie, I can see them diving more into the abusive storyline.. Something has to happen to make him get annoyed with her. It wouldn't do the comics justice if they show that the Joker LOVES Harley.
But like you said, he definitely had a say in her becoming Harley Quinn. I guess we shall see more with the deleted scenes. Because there was a scene where he hits her when she still is Harleen when she's holding a gun to him.
BvS was just blah. They tried to fit WAY too much into that one. Thank god for WW who came and saved the day/movie. I am so ready for her movie!
