He stops his bike before the woman's form, half wanting to jump with glee. But he keeps his cool; he has to be as manly as possible before her. The fact that she is older, albeit by not much, pressures him into maturity all of a sudden.
Junsu clears his throat - and gathers all the courage he can muster - before greeting her.
"I'm so glad you came," he says. "I was quite expectant to be stood up, honestly."
She brushes him off with, "it's no biggie. I need the exercise anyway. It's been a while since I last biked so this is an opportunity I had to grab.”
Junsu asks if she usually went biking by the river and Seonah answers to the affirmative. He nods and, ultimately, stares. There have been many times that he had seemed to forget everything like this, looking at her has this effect.
The actress tilts her head to the side, inquires what is wrong, and fishes Junsu from his trance. He shakes his head and tells her that "no, nothing's wrong." And then he adds, softly and almost inaudibly, "everything is perfect."
Junsu makes Seonah laugh. It's probably why she feels somewhat comfortable around him. Not to mention that it may actually be a reason why she can't say no to anything he says to or asks of her. This, Seonah opts to keep to herself. Junsu doesn't really need to know.
She queries for the reason why he suddenly asked her out. He tells her about a cafe not very far from the spot where they were.
"Ah," she starts. "I figured it'd be for something important that you wanted this meeting," she adds. "You aren't planning to kidnap me or anything, are you? I give out quite a mean punch, just so you know."
It is Junsu's turn to laugh, his earlier nervousness dissipating a bit. He shakes his head again.
"No, no, I'm not planning on kidnapping you," he responds. "There's something I need to ask of you but I think it's better if we talk about it somewhere less cold, preferably with a hot drink in our hands."
A smile is sent his way, accompanied by a raised brow. But Seonah only assents and proceeds to get on her bike. She is ready to go even before Junsu realizes that he's to ride on his bike too.
They ride on their respective bikes for a little more than fifteen minutes, their pace unhurried and companionable. Junsu tries to make more conversation, asking Seonah about her projects. He tells her that he regrets not seeing her on Evita at all.
She, on the other hand, expresses her pride on his improvements as a musical actor. She commends him for his hard work and comments on how he enchants each and every other actor he has worked with.
"Even you?" he wants to ask. "Was I able to charm my way into your heart as well?" the question burns itself into his conscious, threatening to come out of his mouth on a moment of carelessness. He resolves to guard his words - and his heart - as closely as possible.
"You're paying since this is your grand idea," Seonah jokes, but Junsu declares that, of course, he would not let her pay for her drink.
They chain their rides to together and Junsu opens the door for his companion. He nods at the barista, the latter responding with a nod of his own. He guides Seonah to a booth away from the windows, successfully turning his back from the rest of the world. They sit for a little while before he finally asks her what she’d have.
“Tea, something mild. I want to be crawling to bed when I get home later,” Seonah answers.
Junsu shuffles to the counter. It takes him a little less than five minutes to return to their booth. He sets the tray on the table and rests the steaming cup of chamomile tea beside the lady’s clasped hands. He does the same to his own drink before disappearing with the tray. He hurries to his seat opposite the actress and starts without wasting a moment more.
“This is actually official business,” he begins, and then takes a deep breath. “I’m going to release a solo album in a little more than a month. I want to ask you to sing with me.”
Seonah stares at him, eyes wide and all. She stays quiet, not a sound came out of her lips. The smile she sported seconds ago fades into that of an expression of shock.
“And I’m having an Asian tour. I want you to come along.” Junsu’s words come out matter-of-factly, as if what he’s telling her is the most normal and obvious thing in the world.
“Okay…” Seonah trails off, any other words escaping her conscious. “Okay.”
“I mean, of course you can decline,” Junsu tries to reassure her. “But I’d really be honored if you’d say yes.”
“If it’s a solo album, why would you want me along? And a tour.”
“You’d be compensated, of course. Well, you know you sounded great for Yoochunie’s drama’s OST and you sound great on stage and you sound great on record. And we work, you know. When we sung together, we work. So I figured, why not do it again. And -”
Seonah saves Junsu from his own rambling, her hands suddenly atop his.
“Is this your way of saying that you really want to be with me?” she questions, direct and without hesitation.
Junsu scratches the back of his head, his nerves starting to act up again. “Yes, in so many words. And then some.”
Seonah raises a brow, a sly, seductive smile upon her lips. “Kim Junsu, you do know there are things that you can’t be all vague about, right? This is one of those things.”
“I’m not really good with words like this. Can I say it through a song?” Junsu inquires.
“It’s the one I want us to sing together.”
