Of costume balls and heroines
I have heard that there is a costume party, with all invited- An exciting thought, though I confess I'm rather nervous. There are so very many people, after all, included on such an... extensive guest list, who might not be very - well, pleasant, to be at a party with. But just the same, the thought of costumes puts me in mind of the theatre, and the decision of what sort of costume to wear is an entertaining one.
Perhaps I shall simply be one of Shakespeare's maidens - transfer one, or her, from the stage to the ballroom. I'm sure there are many amongst those present in this community who would be able to fashion a costume for me if I asked!...
(Now it is simply a matter of - whom? Ophelia, Juliet, Portia, Miranda, all the loveliest in the land, all the fairest of them all...)
