Letter to Michelle
This is a letter I wrote to Michelle cause she's at camp. I figured I would post it as is cause it sums up my week and I'm too lazy to write a normal blog. So here goes:
Allo, Allo
How’s camp going? Good? Good. I’m doing alright too. I recently got a second job. It’s the Urban Green Team at Greendell C.C. The pay is awful, it’s only $7.50 per hour but I don’t mind. The hours are really nice because I work 9-3, mon-fri so I can still keep working at Sobeys in the evenings and weekends. I also get a big satisfaction out of cleaning up the neighborhood. I spent a morning picking up garbage at Darwin school -that’s where Greendell teams play- and it felt awesome looking back at the field once I was done and it was all pretty and clean. Man I’m getting cheesy! I love the work environment too. I only work with Reg, my boss, and Scott, very cute but has g.f, and both of them are relaxed and easy going. When we get to work in the morning, we hang out for 15 minutes drinking coffee and chatting. Then we’ll work for about 3 hours, take an hour lunch which is usually longer than an hour, and then we’ll work for 2 more hours and call it a day. One downside is that I spend a serious amount of time by myself doing stuff like mowing lawns and picking up trash so I think I’m going to go out and by an mp3 player tomorrow. I don’t mind being by myself, I actually enjoy my space but I need noise or I get a little stir crazy.
Aside from work, this week has been fun. Monday night I was at work when Garrett and Janelle invited me to a movie. I worked till 10:15 and that’s when the movie started so it was tight getting there. I missed most of the previews which was kinda nice and got there 2 minutes before it started. We ended up watching House of Wax. I went in expecting a crappy slasher flick and got what I expected. Slashers are such horribly acted, horribly directed film but for some twisted reason, I love them! It had a fun cast and it was a little strange cause they had the 2 guys from Gilmore girls in it.
The next night Garrett, Janelle, Lynn and I went to Moxie’s for dinner. When I met up with them, I burst out laughing because all three of us girls were wearing our grad hoodies! It was so embarrassing! I didn’t even want to where it. I was actually digging through the dryer looking for my other hoody, pulled out my grad hoody, put it back and though I had grabbed my black one. I accidentally grabbed my grad hoody a second time so I thought “screws it” and took it. Fortunately I had a fleece with me so I covered it up. It was margarita night at moxie’s that night so we all ordered a margarita and apparently the margarita machine was broken so it took forever to get our drinks. Later on, Shileen and Ashley met us there and so did Kaylee.
Speaking of Kaylee, last Saturday she took me and Fayth to a little Cuban social. It was ok. They gave us dinner and showed us to dance the salsa and the cha cha cha. It’s hard cause you need to move your feet and your ass all at the same time. Needless to say, I’ll need a bit of practice and coordination before I make a career of salsa dancing! It got a little boring after that cause the place was full of old people and kids so we met up with Amber at the Empire. I really like that bar and wish we would go there more often. I like that it’s not a skanky like at the Canad Inns bars. I didn’t realize that the second floor was open to the public. Guess what they were doing on the second floor? Salsa Dancing! How bizarre eh?
After my hard work all week consisting of 51 hours of work including three 11-hour days, I decided to bide by the “work hard, play harder” theory and I think I over-did it. Last night I shared a couple bottles of wine with my parents so I was already drunk by the time I got to the O.C. Then I dipped into the tequila and the rest is a big blur. I think I remember the ride home but it is a possibility that I made it up. Who knows?
Tonight there is a big bash at Ashley Klassen’s so Garrett and Janelle are gonna make their way over to my place for a mini pre party and we’ll walk over to Ash’s. I’m actually considering wearing my winter coat cause it is cold out there and its not gonna be any warmer when we walk back.
Hi I’m back again. This is part two of the letter. I stopped writing cause I had to go to the party. It was tons of fun! There was the usual crew: Kim, Evan, Lynn, Garrett, Janelle and I, Amber, Sarah K, Lisa and a bunch of other people. Actually Natalie Lagase and Aaron Guppy and Kyle Horvath showed up. The song of the evening happened to be Holla Back Girl by Gwen Stephani so right now I have “this shit is bananas” stuck in my head. We were taking a bunch of pictures and Fayth decided she wanted a picture of a happy face on my stomach. I kinda forgot about that and was surprised this morning to find a face drawn in green smelly marker on my tummy! So that is that. I hope camp is going well and I hope you’re getting better weather than we are here.
