I just got home from Andy's house, actually. My mother has installed a 1:30am curfew for the last two weeks of summer because she freaked out when I came home at 2:15 last night. But I went art gallery hopping this evening, had pizza downtown with some friends, walked around Wake campus with Andy, and was brutally murdered in the James Bond 007 N64 game at his house. Fun evening, all in all :) And yourself? How has your weekend been thusfar?
Ah, curfew. I didn't even have one this summer because of my unfortunate work schedule (forgetting the fact that it would have been moot, since all of my friends are not in Rochester for the summer).
Sounds like a very pleasant night! Hmm. It's been quiet. It's so hot here - no A/C in the dorms - and I've been sleeping kind of fitfully. But I'm hoping to sleep in tonight/today and get up and do laundry. I hold such high aspirations ;)
This is not really related to the move -- love the new username, by the way -- but I read The Thirteenth Tale the other day, and wow. Now THAT is a story. :)
Thanks! I know; Setterfield was amazing. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
What have you been reading lately? (I always ask you this but I'm looking to store up some recommendation reserves before the semester - and subsequently even more insanity - commences.) I noticed you're on a bit of a LiveJournal break.
Honestly, lately I still haven't been reading as much as I'd like, & I've also run into a few disappointing books. Umm ... just finished Lolita (fantastically written, but it's the kind of book I'd never re-read for fun), now making my way through the Norse mythology section of Bulfinch's Mythology & falling further in love with all fiction by Italo Calvino (I've probably recced him before).
Oh, Robertson Davies! Have I told you to read him before?
Did you read Lolita out of curiosity or for school? Just curious; I haven't read it before but it's on my "to read someday" list (along with seven zillion other books). Yeah, I've read If on a winter's night a traveler. My roommate this past year was a huge Calvino fan and I borrowed it from her. My college (university) is actually offering a class that studies him this semester. It looks pretty neat although I'm not an English major at heart (merely a bookworm instead).
I've never heard of Robertson Davies! What's your favorite work by him? I'm always up for some new material (of course!).
Mrar, you're supposed to add me. I actually do check this thing from time to time. I just don't actively use it much. And paid account?! I expect at least one post each day from you, young lady! LMAO, just kidding =P
