2010 - A Year in Review

Dec 30, 2010 06:32

So, it's 6am and I'm wide awake which totally sucks. I'm blaming it on my crazy sleep schedule lately (getting back on a pattern for work on Monday is going to be HILARIOUS - ok well, maybe not so much) and on my pulled muscle in my neck/shoulder. I dunno wth I did but it hurts - alot. Anytime I move it hurts so that makes sleeping a little uncomfortable. Just took three asprin and I'm waiting (hoping) they kick in so while I wait, I though I'd steal (borrow) this idea from some of the lovely Gems. So..here's my year in review! (or what I can remember from it - I don't have the best memory lol)

JANUARY 2010
January started off by ringing in the New Year with some of the most amazing friends on earth. I've been part of this group since high school and I trust these guys and gals with my life. We've grown over the years as people have added significant others/etc but we are still tight as glue. Chris was home from Japan for the holiday which was wonderful because it had been over a year since any of us saw him.

FEBRUARY 2010:
This was a big month for me. It started with an amazing Valentine's Day weekend dubbed "The broken hearts weekend" and consisted of me and four of my closest single gal pals. Friday night was love song karaoke and drinking, Saturday was rom com viewing and then a Atomic Tom show at night and Sunday was another rom com and brunch in Manhattan. SO MUCH FUN.February was also a major month because it was JM month, back to back shows at MSG on 2.25/2.26. These were the first JM concerts I've attended (long story) and they blew my mind. What happened was the BFF got tix from a contact at the label for 2.25, I was so excited because I had been waiting to see JM live for YEARS. that day started with a huge snow storm and I checked the MSG website a thousand times to make sure they weren't going to cancel. They didn't and if anything, I think the snow added to the magic. We were 12 rows from the front, dead center. It's really hard for me to describe how I felt for those two hours because I don't think there are accurate words to describe that feeling. All I know is that, everything melted away. I go to a lot of concerts..like ALOT..but I haven't had that giddy, "I want to live in this moment for the rest of my life" feeling in a long time. I remember being on the subway heading home and the BFF and I were just GUSHING! The next day the snow continued to fall and I couldn't get into Manhattan for work. the BFF called her contact at the label to thank him for the tickets and I guess he heard the swooning in her voice because he told her that one of the execs decided not to go to that night's show because of the snow and he offered us the tickets!! She called me immediately and there was no doubt, I'd rent a dog sled if I had to, I was getting into Manhattan for that show! I did, and it was just as great as the night before!

MARCH 2010:
March was slow. The main thing I remember from March was T's NYC themed bachelorette party that BFF and I put together. It was a fun time..there was drinking beer out of a glass boot (DAS BOOT!), talking to NYC cops, blowing whistles at cute guys, dancing and doing shots in a club and I believe there was a partial NYC scavenger hunt.(oh and let's not forget about carrying around the giant inflateable penis lol) March was also the official start of my diet.

APRIL 2010:
MY BIRTHDAY! :) Another amazing NYC night at Johnny Utahs's which = mechanical bull riding!!

MAY 2010:
wedding month! E & T got married over Memorial Day weekend. I've known E since we were freshman in high school and he has always been a large part of my life. I was so glad to be a part of his special day and to watch him get married to a girl that I absolutely adore. We partied hard that weekend and I can't remember one minute that I didn't have a smile on my face.

JUNE 2010:
Vegas baby! My third time and aside from the freakishly cold weather which lead to shortened pool time, the trip was a blast. June also marked another BSB concert (I estimate that puts me somewhere near two dozen times of seeing them total in my life lol) and got a promoted to assistant manager of operations management (trade paperback backlist) at workt.

JULY 2010:
Another somewhat quiet month. There was the celebration of the 4th (which I barely remember what I did at all) Got to go to the Maroon 5 FUSE show at Beacon Theater which was incredible (man I love Adam Levine)

AUGUST 2010:
JM returns!! roadtripped to Hartford for his "hometown" show. Spent the day visting an old college friend who lived nearby and then headed to the show. Loved that I got to see Train open this time around. August also welcomed in the newest addition to my family - my cousin Thomas Anthony was born on 8.20 and I fell in love with him immediately!

SEPTEMBER 2010:
Started writing again for the first time in years. Felt good to get back into that. I stalked the JMFF community for weeks too shy and afraid to post. BOY AM I GLAD I DID! ;) Met some amazing people out of it. Also met a boy in September... and he joined us for a weekend away at my uncle's cabin...thought it was gonna be something, but it turned out not to be :(

OCTOBER 2010:
HALLOWEEN!! Threw my first big Halloween bash which  was a smashing success!! (or at least from what I remember) oh yea, did I mention that I drank WAY TOO MUCH and about two and a half hrs into the party I dissapeared to get sick and never returned? Fell asleep in full costume on my bed. whoops. Well, everyone told me afterwards that it was amazing. Maybe we'll do it again in 2011 and I'll be more careful about what I drink. (Everclear laced apple cider = dangerous)

NOVEMBER 2010:
You think I'd remember fun stuff from November since it was LAST MONTH. but really, it's all a haze. Thanksgiving came and went (my favorite holiday of the year) as did the BFFs birthday. I remember being way busy on the weekends, but I don't remember exactly what we did.) OH, there was a Boston roadtrip in there <3 my second of the year. Spent the weekend with L and her bf. Drinking, dancing and of course a late nite visit to the Sausage Guy (get your mind out of the gutter. he's a street vendor)

DECEMBER 2010:
Christmas has come and gone (thank goodness) I spent most of the month shopping for gifts. Went to another Atomic Tom show. Got to know my Gems even more! Nervously paced around lower Manhattan on my lunch breaks. Booked my trip to Europe this month and put the payment down on my BM dress for the college roommate's wedding! :)

Well, it's interesting when you look back on a year in one shot. I know there is so much more I'm missing but all and all it was a great year! Can't wait for 2011!
