The Week In Pictures

Feb 10, 2008 22:22

Alright...as promised, here are some pics from the past week.

My main goal in Nashville was to go see the Country Music Hall of Fame, which I hadn't been to in about five years. While I didn't get much new out of the visit, I still really got a lot of viewing in, and spent almost three hours wandering through.

A listening booth paying tribute to George Jones's "He Stopped Loving Her Today", the greatest country music song ever recorded, IMHO.

Pictures of the actual Hall of Fame, where the plaques representing all of the members reside. The painting at the far end of the Hall (in closer detail in the last pic), is representative of the origins and styles of country music, ranging from the roadhouses to the churches.

Two of my favorite members; Vince Gill (inducted last year) and Patsy Cline

These two are for my Grandma Willie, who passed away in 1985. She loved Elvis and Alabama.

Some random pics from the streets of Nashville, including the exterior of the Hall of Fame. Note the radio tower at the top, which matches up with the tower hanging down inside the Hall.

My other major stop was the Parthenon, which is a replica built on the west side of town. Unfortunately, they decided to close the joint on Sundays during the winter, so all I can share with you are the exteriors.

So here's how I viewed the Super Bowl...through a crowd of cameras and boom mics. Notice Rick Santorum on the left side of the second picture.

And the highlight of my trip...Mitt Romney at the moment the Giants scored the winning touchdown, and the moment Mitt Romney realized the game was over (the Super Bowl, that is). I'd like to think the Patriots Super Bowl hats they were wearing contributed to the downfall of his campaign.

One last picture...the King of Saudi Arabia's plane, which was parked right next to the gate where my plane arrived back into Lansing. Who knew he would be coming through Lansing?
