in the elevator this morning the tv screen tells me that 11% of office workers would give up streaming netflix subscriptions to eliminate meaningless meetings from their lives. later i walk down the hall behind a janitor wearing an oversized jean jacket whose shoulders are emblazoned with BILLIONAIRE BOYS CLUB.
what metrics are these. if we throw away all logic underpinning how we measure our world, should we be surprised when nothing else makes sense? if we are willing to absorb our world comparatively rather than quantitatively, how can we also pretend we care at all about quality -- or goodness -- or meaning?
