We had a great saturday and a great libation. I got to Big Trees Forest Preserve in Sandy Springs at 12:18ish. Shortly thereafter,
radiantbaby and
justben arrived.
We had 3 other people in attendance besides ourselves. Two of whom I know have livejournals but I will have to track those down. We traversed the trail down to the area in Big Trees that appears to be made for such rituals. Once there I read the Homeric Hymn to Ares.
justben was then in charge of reading the epithets in greek while
radiantbaby and I poured the initial libations of olive oil to the God. Then
radiantbaby read the Orphic Hymn to Ares. Then we offered a time for everyone else to say a personal prayer and pour a libation as well. After that, most of us went on to a Pursian restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately, there was one person who had to be off to work so we didn't get to share his company at lunch.
The Persian food was amazing, by the way.
After the libation,
justben and
radiantbaby came back to my place with me and we hung out and conversed. We talked about watching a movie but never did. Later in the evening we decided we were hungry again (I don't know how that was possible due to the lunch we had!) and went out for a small mexican dinner. We must have stayed at the restaurant talking forever too. Then we got back to my place and conversed some more until we realized it going on 11 at night. We can do that sort of thing for hours, which is wonderful. I love having friends who just want to talk and hang out like that.
They toddled on home at about that time and I read for a little while and then went to sleep.
I got up this morning about 7:30 because a cat was walking on my head. Now I am showered and ready to go to church, but I don't need to leave for another hour! Then I need to go to a store and find a semi formal or cocktail dress for several christmas parties and for our cruise. I might also do some scrapbooking tonight - I have some projects I need to finish by Christmas.
The Atlanta contingent of
se_hellenes is meeting on Tuesday at the Borders Cafe near my house for the discussion group portion of our events. I hope a few people come to that as well.
