2.5 hours...

So, in case you haven't heard, Atlanta is having a "Gas Crisis". You would think the way everyone is talking; this is the end of the world. However, it certainly isn't pleasant out there.

I had set the alarm to get up early but I turned it off in the middle of the night because I just wanted to sleep. When I did finally get up, I popped on to the computer and saw kitanzi's story about getting up at 4:30 this morning and still having a lot of trouble finding a gas station with gas. So, I told Matt I was going to leave and if he wanted to come with me he was welcome to. So we went out. We drove past one gas station with a HUGE line and thought we'd see if we could find anything else. So we planned our strategy and decided just how far we'd go and if we didn't get any we'd come back to the line. Well, we did end up back in that line. We were on Roswell Road in East Cobb about half a mile from Johnson Ferry Road. We were heading toward an Exxon station that had gas. And it took us two and a half hours to go that half a mile and get to the gas station. For a while, we were stopped across from the Home Depot, so Matt too the opportunity to go over there and pick up some things we needed for some of the household projects we are doing.

The good news - I got gas. They were limiting people to $40 at each pump, but lucky for me I have an 11 gallon tank and $40 pretty much filled it up.

There was limited drama. There was a woman with a John McCain sticker who had absolutely no situational awareness and blocked almost every driveway and side street that we had to pass along the way. It was comical that she kept doing it even after the first time when angry people just trying to get home were honking at her. About two cars behind us were a young couple on foot with a gas can. I can only speculate that their car was closer to empty than mine and they felt it made more sense to stand there with a large gas can instead of having their car running (although most of us in the line actually turned off the car when we weren't moving). However, the guy kept walking up to the station to see what the status was. Apparently, about five cars ahead of us, some guy in a beat up old yellow truck cut in line. That was the only real yelling match we saw. People were going into the station to tell the poor overwhelmed employee/owner about him. They were telling him to call the police because it wasn't fair that they were in line for three hours (it was really only two and a half) and that he was only in line for 20 minutes. And while I think the guy is a big a-hole, last time I checked it wasn't actually illegal to "cut in line" so I am not sure what a cop would have done with that scenario. He was a jerk, though.

Now we are home. I just cleaned up behind the bar downstairs in the home theater. That is where we had a leak from the upstairs shower and there is now a big hole in the ceiling. I put poster board up for now until we get it fixed. oneandonlymatt thinks he has fixed the issue in the bathroom that was causing the leaking, but we don't want to dry wall again until we know for sure. Then I put a second coat of paint on the trim around the front door (I had done the first coat yesterday). Now I am watching the Panthers/Falcons game. Eventually we are going to go to the grocery store. We usually go on Mondays but we are having some friends over for Monday Night Football tomorrow.
