So yesterday Jon, Melanie and the baby, Erin came over for thanksgiving dinner. I have to say, so far being an uncle is really awesome. She doesn't do much of anything right now, since she is only 8 months old, but I can totally see me taking her out for ice cream and playing candyland, the whole nine. She's going to be a blast.
Dinner was a little awkward, and if it wasn't for little Erin, I don't think that we would have had anything to say to each other at all. But she made a few moments of laughter and smiles. Mom made a huge turkey, and it was great, but I think I will be eating turkey for a month. Oh well.
I think Mom is doing better though. I know that this whole holiday season isn't going to be easy for her, especially because she still blames herself. She still thinks because she didn't see Dad in her 'flash' that's why he died. He had colon cancer, he was going to die, it was too late. But she still blames herself.
I spent the morning watching TV with Mom, going through her christmas list of who she needs to send cards to. I just need to keep her busy, but how can I do that for a month?
