I saw the song you were listening to, as well as your LJ picture, and it leads me to believe that you're interested in boxing. I like boxing myself, and I LOVE Muhammad Ali and Jack Johnson.
I don't know how much you know about them, but they were VERY similar men, both iconoclasts in their respective eras...
I know a lot about both men, i have been watching nothing but boxing for the last two-three weeks, and i have been reading about it. I am going to give a speech in a class about Muhammad Ali and why he is such a hero. That is awesome that you like boxing also, we will chat about it in the future...I like saying that, "In the Future"

Muhammad Ali is the shit. I got a poster i framed of him from his fight on the 25th of may in 1965. He is standin' over Sonny Liston flexin' his muscles and the subtitle says "First minute, first round"
By far my most prized posession, that thing means a lot to me. -Keep truckin' andre!

if you've been watching boxing stuff, then you must have seen "When We Were Kings". It's a documentary about the rumble in the jungle, the most important fight in Ali's career.
If you haven't seen it, do so. It is one of the best documentaries ever made. Also "Unforgivable Blackness" is a great documentary about Jack Johnson.
Boxing is great, but I DO think that it has gone downhill since the glory days of the seventies. The heavyweight division is a joke now. It makes me sad...

agree with boxing not being the same, i am all about the classics, yes i have seen both of thoses films, they are outstanding. another one i recommend is "Ali:through the eyes of the world" a 2001 documaentary about ali's career. any other recommendations let me hear them, i am always open to new things

documentary wise, there isn't much more I can think of...but if you ever get a chance, keep your eyes on ESPN classic. They sometimes show old boxing matches, and they are usually very good.
I once saw The Thrilla in Manila, a fight between Joe Frazier and Ali. It was one of the most intense, brutal fights I have ever seen. Apparently the fight was so physically damaging to both combatants that the rest of their careers were colored by that fight
