A huntin' we will go..

Mila ran.

It had been a confusing couple of months.  First, she had been a normal junior, going to school in the great city of Las Vegas.  Next, she had gone through changes - and not the ones her school nurse told her about.  She had been stronger, faster, more durable.  And she knew there were vampires.

She had changed her schedule around some, and had begun hunting the damn things.  It felt right to do so.  She enjoyed it, and she was good at it.  And then, one night, her speed and strength went away.  There was no rhyme or reason, and she could have been hospitalized for it.  Only, she found that she still had her healing factor.   So, she continued on in her struggle to stop the vampires.

Tonight, the particular vampire she was hunting was a right bastard.  Normally she patrolled the cemetery nearby, making sure dead-heads didn’t come out of the ground.  That was easiest.  This guy, though.. He’d been a thorn in her side for three weeks now, and she was good and ready to be the thorn in his side.  Well, heart specifically, but who was counting?

She was gaining.  He was a loud runner, and she could hear him crashing into garbage cans.  A smile played across her lips, anticipating the kill.  She sprinted into the alleyway, and drew her weapon.  A broken off pool cue with a whittled down end.  She liked the grip.

“Here, vamp-y!  Nice vamp-y! Come on out and play,” she coaxed, intensely aware of the sound of her blood pounding in her veins.  “There’s a good..”
