Torquil Campbell is not a bad singer. Just in my opinion, at least. The Montreal based band Stars has music that backs up my opinion, and in his side project, Memphis, his voice remains calm and soothing as usual, which is a good thing because that's sort of his singing style which is the highlight of the band.
Many tracks in the album, A Little Place in the WIlderness, provide good and worth-while tracks that are great to listen to. One of the best songs on the album is I Dreamed We Fell Apart. Another wonderful track is In the Cinema Alone.
The stars of Memphis create beautiful jazz melodies and acoustic rhythms that leave you wanting more of Campbell's serene voice. B+/A-
