So, like usual, I'm the first one here again. My hall is empty except for one guy with a funny accent. I'm sure the people from my group will start to trickle in aroun 10:30, or whenever it is they wake up. Next week I'm going to start coming later, this week I've just had stuff to do in the morning, and then nothing to do in the afternoons.
Hopefully they'll finish setting up my Linux-dev desktop today so I can check out the code tree and start working. One of my two meetings today was cancelled, and replaced with a 2 hour lunch meeting. It's kind of scary to look at my Outlook calendar and see that its essentially full. It is kind of nice to have meetings though when I don't have anything specific to do, because it gives me somewhere to be for a while, and sometims they're actually kind of interesting.
Yeah, so my department is working on completely overhauling the look and feel of Amazon.com. Kind of a large undetaking for 5 people. When it's done, it'll definitely look different. The only thing I'm afraid of is that it puts a little too much faith in the intelligence of your average online shopper. A lot of people are going to be confused by the psuedo-code search language that while you don't have to use it, its the only way to get at some of the more advanced features.
Oh well. I'm still really bored and tired every night. I come home late, (I'm still paying for the bus until I get my pass) have to cook dinner, and by this time its usually already late. Generally, I play some online euchre or something, and go to bed. I think the lack of free time this summer is going to make my time in Seattle fly by. Oh well.
I miss you guys.
PS, the free coffee here is really really good. I drink far too much of it.
