Jungsoo stood with her hand on hip listening intently to the other mothers gossiping about the new drama that had taken over the school.

“It disgusting isn’t it” One woman said standing behind her garden gate
“My daughter would never go near anything like that” Said another.

Jungsoo had received a letter from her son’s school that day, stating that a child had been excluded from school for selling drugs on the premises and that the police would be taking statements from other students. Whilst other mothers new for sure that their children didn’t associate with the child Jungsoo couldn’t be so sure.

When Hyukjae was a young boy, he was constantly by his mother side, Jungsoo was a radio DJ and so on his school holidays she often took him to the studio and he was have is in put over the air waves and the viewers were hooked. Hyukjae would talk for hours with Jungsoo, when he would come home crying because another boy pushed him over and he scraped his knee’s, she would be waiting with plasters, a kiss to place on his knee, a tissue to dry his eyes and a warm hug to keep him safe.
“Mothers had a sixth sense about these things” she would always say when he looked at her with wide eyes.

Hyukjae had a twin brother Donghae, he was always his father’s boy but there was no jealousy between them, it was just a natural instinct for Hyukjae to run to Jungsoo first for a hug and for Donghae to run to Youngwoon for one.

As the mothers returned to their perspective household’s, Jungsoo couldn’t help but have a heavy heart, Since Hyukjae turned a turned a teenager, he began to distance himself away from his parents and Jungsoo noticed. On Countless occasions she would try and interact with him about his day but she would just get grunt’s in return.

“It’s just his moody teenage years” Youngwoon would say he wrapped his arms around his worried wife “Donghae is just as bad” he would chuckled.

Jungsoo stood putting the freshly dried laundry in to each basket, she picked up clean white shirt; it was one of her favourites to wear of Youngwoon’s; every time she put the shirt on it felt like he was constantly hugging her. He was her best friend and she knew she could talk to him about anything that was bothering her. As she slipped her arms in to the shirt she wondered what Youngwoon would say to comfort her about their sons.

She buried her nose in to the shirt before picking Hyukjae’s laundry basket up and daring to take it in to his room.
At first the young boy didn’t notice her, he had his head phone on and Jungsoo could hear the muffled noise about music coming out. The young red haired boy was leaning over his computer completely oblivious to her presence.
She cleared her throat making her presence known, the flame haired boy shrugged his headphones out his ear and looked at her with a blank expression.

“Your hair looks nice, when did you dye that?” She smiled at him
“’bout half an hour ago” he said nonchalantly

Jungsoo could see the stained blood red towel on the floor next to his bed “Ah another thing for me to wash then” she giggled as she picked it up.
Hyukjae continued staring.
“So how’s your day been? Anything you want to talk about?”
“Not really?”

Jungsoo had never found it this hard to talk to him before, but she tried to carry on “I heard a boy got a expelled from school for dealing drugs, did you know him?”

Hyukjae sighed and checked his watch, Jungsoo got the hint that she had a limited amount of time in his room..
“No”
“Oh, I thought you were on the dance team together?” she said trying to ignore the fact that he was giving her death stares.
“If you already know why are you asking?” Hyukjae said flatly.
“I’m just asking that’s all Hyukjae, there isn’t any need to be rude” and with that she left the room feeling defeated.
She hated feeling like it was a constant battle to talk to her son.

As she went back in to the kitchen to start preparing dinner, she found Donghae sitting at the table on his laptop.

“We really have too many computers in this house” she muttered.
“Hi honey, what’re you up to?” she placed a kiss on his head before going to the sink to start peeling potatoes.
Unlike Hyukjae, Donghae actually seemed happy to see her “I’m updating my Facebook, what are you doing?”

“Your face what?”
“Facebook umma, It’s so I can keep in touch with my friends and post my pictures on it and stuff.”
“Oh, does everyone have one of these?” Jungsoo said taking a seat next to him.
“Yeah”
“Even Hyukjae?”
“Hyung got one before me”

Jungsoo was mildly intrigued “How would you go about getting one of face thingys”
“Just sign up from the home page”
Jungsoo nodded and then kissed her son once more on the head and went back to the sink.
“You didn’t tell me what you are doing?” Donghae said as he poured himself a drink
“I’m cooking your dinner” Jungsoo smiled happily.
“Do you want any help?”

Jungsoo let out a little laugh “Why are you being so helpful? Not that I mind”

“Appa promised me not to say anything” Donghae said shyly.
Jungsoo put her hand on her hip and gave him her ‘what are you hiding from me look’, its not that her son was weak but she he could fold easily when she wanted information.

“Well.. appa said hyung had been giving you a hard time lately and he wanted me to help you a bit to make you feel a little easier”

Jungsoo broke in to a huge smile and hugged him tightly “Aww you are so cute you know that and thank you” Jungsoo made a mental note to run Youngwoon a hot bath when he got home from work to thank him .

*****

“Baby, can we go to bed now” Youngwoon yawned kissing Jungsoo on the cheek, it was near midnight and both the boys had gone to bed.
“In five minutes I promise” Jungsoo was tapping fiercely on the laptop.
Youngwoon leaned his head on her shoulder and closed his eyes letting out odd growls now and again, Jungsoo knew her husband was tired but he insisted on not going to bed until she did, he had done that ever since they first got together.
She sighed and was just about to shut the laptop off when an email icon appeared at the bottom of the screen.

Jungsoo thought for a second, wondering what she could say, they didn’t have things like social networking sites back in her day.

After a few more moments of thinking she decided it was best to keep it simple for now.

I hope we can be friends
