Taxes?

Here's what I posted recently in someone else's journal...

"Actually, sales tax is the tax that makes most sense to me. I think income taxes should be lowered and sales tax should be RAISED, and sales tax on clothes and food should be elminiated completely because they are necessities. Why sales tax? because the people who spend the most would be taxed the most. The more money you have to spend on luxury items, the more taxes you would pay. This would help families who don't make much money and usually only buy necessities. Plus, the more expensive the item, the more tax you pay. If someone buys a used Mazda, you can't afford to spend as much in tax as someone who buys a new Jaguar. It just makes sense."

Anyone else think that it makes more sense to tax lavish spending than it does to tax income? I know that it pretty much eliminates the idea of tax write-offs, but we can always keep the tax laws for corporations the same and just change the individual income tax laws...
